Historique

Jean Anderson MacCullum (1904-1978) was born in Amherst and was married to Harry C.L. Sweet on July 8, 1933, in Saint John, New Brunswick. She was the niece of William MacIntosh. She started work as a journalist at the "Evening Times Globe" in ca. 1955 (Saint John, New Brunswick). In her younger years, she was a teacher at the Partridge Island Quarantine Station.

Jean was also actively involved in theatre and belonged to a theatre guild. She wrote numerous plays and had published a book. During the war, she participated in productions for the military. The theatre guild held monthly meetings where one act plays were performed. They also had large scale productions using scripts by local writers. There was also a children's theatre division in the guild.
