Administrative history
Before 1964, the village of Seal Cove on Grand Manan Island, New Brunswick, was unincorporated. In that year, for the purposes of tax assessments and maintaining street lighting and other services, it was classified by the provincial government as a Local Improvement District.
Custodial history
Annie Benson, treasurer of the Seal Cove Local Improvement District, gave these records to L. K. Ingersoll. He placed them in the Museum.
Scope and content
This fonds consists records relating to the Seal Cove Local Improvement District, including financial records in the form of cheque, deposit, and receipt books. Books recording accounts paid-off or written-off are also included.
