Biographical history
Ann Simonds was born in 1785 in Maugerville, New Brunswick, daughter of James Simonds (1735-1831), who had arrived at Saint John in 1762, and his wife, Hannah Peabody. Ann was one of 14 children. Her brothers Charles Simonds (1783-1859) and Richard (1789-1836) were members of the Legislative Council and of the Legislative Assembly. There are records of another brother, James (1768-1828), and four sisters: Mary (d.1827), who married Anthony Allaire; Sarah (1777-1857), who married Thomas Millidge; Hannah (1779-1869), who married John Millidge; and Eliza (1792-1854), who married Henry Gilbert

Scope and content
This fonds consists of Ann Simonds' correspondence and financial papers and other correspondence among Simonds family members. Included are account books relating to Henry George Simonds, 1831-1848.
