Administrative history

Wren's Drug Store, located in St. Andrews, Charlotte County, New Brunswick, served the needs of the residents of the town and surrounding area, including Deer Island, at the turn of the 20th century. For many years, it was managed by W. J. Rollins.

Custodial history

Information about the custody of these records prior to acquisition is incomplete.

Scope and content

The fonds consists of copies of prescriptions that were filled by pharmacists of Wren's Drug Store from 1880-1954. Recorded on each prescription are the type of medication, the name of the physician, the name of the patient, the prescription number, and the date.

Physical condition

The items in the fonds have suffered extensive humidity damage- the paper was of poor quality to begin with, and age with storage conditions have caused them to brown, become dog-eared and warp into a circular shape, as opposed to their original rectangular shape.

Immediate source of acquisition

Donated to the Provincial Archives of New Brunswick by Cecil Williamson of St. Andrews, N. B. on 30 November 1976.
