Name of creator
William Mahood (ca. 1811-1855) was the Deputy Surveyor of Crown Lands for Charlotte County, New Brunswick. He lived in St. Andrews but was originally from Cavan, Ireland. He was married to Lucretia (b. ca. 1818 in New Brunswick) and they had three children: James (b. ca. 1839); Letitia (b.ca. 1843) and Lucretia (b. ca. 1845). William served in the 7th Co., 2nd Battalion of the Charlotte County Militia in 1845.

Scope and content
This fonds is the material associated with Mahood's job as land surveyor. It includes diaries of activities, book of tables and astronomical observations, field journals of sketches, plans and descriptions of grants and land holdings. There are survey and inspection reports of sawmills and logging operations as well.
