History

Arthur Fenwick Van Wart (1896-1973) was born in Fredericton, New Brunswick and received his medical degree as a physician from the University of Toronto in 1921. He interned and did post-graduate work at Toronto General Hospital and in Chicago before joining his father, George Clowes Van Wart, also a doctor, in a medical practice in Fredericton. Dr. Arthur Van Wart was president of the New Brunswick Medical Society in 1942 and of the Canadian Medical Society in 1958. He served on the Royal Commission on Health Services (the Hall Commission) from 1962-1964.
