Biographical history

The St. John Pilot's Club was formed in 1895 for the mutual improvement of the working conditions of the pilots handling ships coming into the port at Saint John, New Brunswick. They held regular meetings every Wednesday night. The club was discontinued in 1897.

Scope and content

This fonds contains the minute book of the St. John Pilot's Club for 1895-1897. There is also a scrapbook of press clippings about an inquiry into pilotage dues in the port of Saint John in 1895. The inquiry was held before Captain Smith and Captain Douglas.
