Scope and content
By laws include 16 pages of articles relative to company's rules as recorded in 1857
Transcribed records of St Andrews Fire Department. Included are the names of firemen from 1853-1988 and other information.
Ledgers contain Roll Book of No 2 Fire Company from 2 May 1898 to 25 December 1939 ; letters and daily notes from10 October 1887 to 16 August 1900. Hand written history covers period 1853 - 1988; including names of firepersons, vehicles, and general notes. Cancelled cheques, cheque stubs and bank statements for 1973.
Good. By Law booklet is sewn together with string. Leather Ledger books are in poor to fair condition ; binding is frayed and pages are loose of not attached to the binding at all ; writing is legible ; record books contain attendance roster for No. 2 Fire Company, St. Andrews ; minutes of meetings are recorded, as well as, copies of letters and procedures ; records of fires are also maintained in these ledgers which includes newspaper clippings. Presentation Certificate to Mr. Edward Lorimer on his resignation as captain of Fire Engine No 2 was signed by 34 members of the company ; document printed by George W. Baker, Bay Pilot Office St. Andrews. Condition is good - fold in center. Condition of three-ring binder information is good. Condition of 8 minute and attendance record books vary from very poor condition to good ; pages and covers of record books from 1863 to 1911 are loose, torn, and falling apart ; hand written and photo-copied items are in good condition ; Fire Marshal's Report is in very good condition.
