"The Cabinetmakers Assistant" published by Blackies in Glasgow, Scotland in 1853, containing furniture designs, is also included.

  • Deeds and leases for properties in Saint John, Grand Falls, Buctouche, Woodstock and in Sunbury, Queen's, Carleton and Kent counties, - 1845-1866. As well, there are Sheriff's sales of property in Victoria county, 1859 and 1860.
  • There are 2 bonds for debts to John Armstrong, 1855 and 1865.
  • There is a bill of sale for wooden boats to John Armstrong, 1968 and a certificate of ownership of shares in the barque, "Jennie Armstrong" and registered ownership of the brig "Maggie.
  • There is a confirmation of discharge, 1875, which was John Armstrong's official discharge in his declaration of insolvency. The actual date of the confirmation was 29 November 1875 at the City of Saint John in the County of Saint John. This document was prepared by S.R. Thomson, Solicitor to the Insolvent

This fonds consists of historical correspondence, reports, acts, agreements and other material about New Brunswick railways. There are monthly payrolls of Salisbury and Harvey Railway, 1898-1901; accounts of the Albert Railway, 1877-1882; cancelled cheques and promissory notes of the N.B. Railway Co., 1884-1887; and records of the Northern and Western Railway Co., Railway Extension Co., and Cumberland Railway and Coal Co. The collection includes timetables, correspondence, lists of locomotives, notes, notices, newsletters and copies of newspaper articles.

Abigail Chipman Ryerson

The fonds consist of a typescript copy of the diary kept by Abigail Chipman Ryerson, wife of Captain John K. Ryerson, during a voyage by sailing ship from Saint John, New Brunswick, to Greenock, Scotland, and back. The voyage began on 27 August and the last entry in the diary was made on 19 December 1847 at Brier Island where the vessel was stayed by a snowstorm.

The diary includes descriptions of everyday life on a ship from a female point of view, including such activities as quilting, sewing, knitting, and cooking. She also mentions Partridge Island, noting the recent arrivals of Irish immigrants there. There is a description of an encounter 24 November 1847 with the abandoned and waterlogged remains of the "Cumbria of Gloucester", located at latitude 50, longitude 40.
