The fonds consists of an extraction book and a letter. The extract book, dated 1793, belonged to Maria Ann Smart of Saint John. There is a note on the inside cover stating the book was a present from Miss Street. An index is included. This book contains handwritten copies of verse, prose, and hymns by various people, including friends.

The letter, dated 1804, is addressed to Elizabeth Smart, at Fredericton by her sister Frances Ager, living in Windsor, England. The letter describes her living quarters near Windsor Castle and discusses her husband's employment at the Castle. She writes of seeing Royalty pass by en route to St. George's Chapel. The letter also mentions the couple's two daughters, as well as relatives living in England.

This fonds consists of James Hendricks business correspondence, primarily about the shipping of hardware and general goods from Glasgow to Saint John. It also includes deeds, leases, bonds and other legal documentation assembled when James' son, Conrad, brought a suit in the Court of Equity in 1864 against Samuel Hallet over the administration of James' will. There are also some other papers belonging to Conrad's descendants.

This collection consists of documents about the Victoria Skating Rink. There are 2 stock certificates for single shares purchased in 1882 and 1883, as well as two letters and a receipt, to John Walsh of Mill Street, from R.J. Armstrong regarding the use of the alleyway between Mr. Walsh's home and the York Theatre (connected with the Victoria Skating Rink). Some seasons tickets are also included.

This fonds consists of family correspondence, diaries and land records. It includes family correspondence, 1784-1933: the journals of N. Hubbard DeVeber, 1850-1856 and A.W. DeVeber, 1884-1885 and land records from Gagetown, Petersville and other parishes. The treasurer's account book of St. Paul's Church Sunday school, 1888-1892 and records about the estate of Leveritt H. DeVeber, 1880-1895 are also included.

The fonds consists of ephemera pertaining to Fred G. Jones's bookbinding occupation. There is a 1922 Saint John Exhibition First Prize card for bookbinding as well as an advertising card for High Class Bookbinding by Fred G. Jones. Two pieces of advertising material with marbling (of paper) specimens printed by Halfer Company of London, England, a supplier of materials and equipment for marbellizing paper. Specimens include two samples each of Dutch marble, Turkish or Stone Marble, Comb Marbles and Hair Vein Marbles using different colours. There are printed instructions for marbellizing paper on the back.

This fonds consists of records of the society. There is a letter book, 1878-1898, containing copies of letters sent by the society, mostly dealing with purchases of law books, journals, and general supplies.

Council records, 1893-1957, consist of annual reports by the presidents, with individual reports by the secretary-treasurer and the librarian and a record of the yearly election of officers. The General Meetings Records (minutes), 1900-1947, consist of the routine business of the society and include financial records and mentions of the death of members. There are newsclippings pasted throughout this book.

The loose papers in file folders include financial reports, 1925-1926 and 1930-1931; president's reports for 1942-1943 and 1943-1944; and a small amount of general correspondence dealing with book orders.

The fonds consists of correspondence and administrative records The correspondence deals with exhibitions, the annual bulb sale, judges for shows and the purchase of bulbs by members. There is correspondence with other dahlia societies including: Rochester (NY) Dahlia Society, Connecticut Dahlia Society, the National Dahlia Society of England and especially the American Dahlia Society.

Other papers include the constitution, membership lists, rules and regulations of dahlia exhibitions, newsclippings, and reports of dahlia shows.

The fonds consists of a record book for Zion Church, dated 1859 to 1865. The record book contains the minutes of monthly church meetings that include some names of those present. It documents the structure of the meetings and type of business conducted. An historical sketch of Zion Church, its endowments, rules of order and a confession of faith, are included in the book. There is also a membership list for August 1864 with names and street addresses.

Jack family

This fonds consists of correspondence, legal papers, appointments, financial documents, ephemera, and Jack family notes and writings.

The correspondence, 1833-1899, is primarily family (mostly between Emma and William) and 2 other letters including a letter of reference for William Kenah and a letter to T. Jack with a Notman photo from Lord Frederick Poulet.

Legal papers include deeds and land contracts, court cases (Richard Sands v. James Keaton, Edward L. Thorne, and Lovitt v. Clark, Supreme Court, 1795) and a contract for a yearly allowance to John and Hannah Allan, 1806. There are also resolutions on the death of William Jack in 1886 and draft minutes of an investigation concerning Joseph Hea.

Family writings include a typescript, "Ireland" - E.C.J. about the reminiscences of Emma Carleton Jack of life in Ireland before coming to Canada and provides information about her family members, probably written for her children and grandchildren. Works by William Jack include an account of his life as a lawyer, a personal account of the Saint John fire of 1877, and a short articles about New Brunswick history. There is also some and poetry written by William Jack, aged 20.

There are certicates of appointments for John Curry, as Justice of the Peace, Sunbury Co.; Isaac Allan Jack as Recorder for Saint John, 1885; Joseph Kenah as Captain of 104th Regiment, 1816; and William Jack, Queen's Counsel, 1880. There is also a notebook prepared by D.W. Jack containing instructions for a gauger.

There are a few receipts for general items and a stock certificate for the Caledonia Mining and Manufacturing Company belonging to William Jack.

Ephemera consists of Coronation service booklets (1911), ribbons, menu, dried flowers, a collection of bookplates and envelopes, and a certificate of the Cooper Union Women's School of Art given to Emma Jack.
