Note générale
"Not until fourteen years after the end of the First World War did Grand Manan undertake to formally organize a branch of the Canadian Legion. ... Following the war, the major efforts of veterans' groups, particularly the Great War Veterans Association (GWVA), formed in 1917, was to advocate for veterans' pensions, support for families who either lost a loved one or had a soldier who faced long term recovery from wounds or disabilities. By 1925, that organization had merged with the British Legion to form the Canadian Legion. Thereafter, official branches began to spring up across the nation in support of veterans.... The Grand Manan "outpost" was designated in 1932." - Roger Nason, Grand Manan and the Great War, Part 71 - Remembrance Day and the Formation of the Grand Manan Legion, printed in The Island Times, Nov, 2019.
