Administrative history

The 8th Canadian Hussars was formed on April 4th, 1848 as the New Brunswick Regiment of Yeomanry Cavalry, from eleven independent troops of Cavalry. The first of these was raised in 1825 from descendants of the Loyalists who settled the St. John and Kennebecasis river valleys.

Scope and content

Series consists of A photocopy of a Silver Coffee Urn donated by James Domville in 1872 as a prize for rifle shooting. A photocopy of a Silver Trumpet donated by Major-General Ivor Herbert in 1893 as a prize for General Efficiency. A Certificate of Military Instruction award to 2nd Lt. J W Black in April 1897.
