He was a newspaper reporter from 1885-1888; called to the bar in 1889; appointed King's Council (K.C.) in 1903; a partner with Charles F. Sanford, 1900-1903; a partner of the firm Barnhill, Ewing & Sanford, 1903-1919; and partner of Barnhill, Sanford & Harrison.

Charles Fenson Sanford was born in Weston, Kings County, Nova Scotia, in 1870, son of Charles Edward Sanford and Alice Skinner. He served overseas in WWI as a Quartermaster. He was admitted to the bar in 1892. He married Mary Maude Narraway in 1901 and had no children.

William Henry Harrison was born in 1880 in Saint John, New Brunswick, son of Legh Richmond and Susan Louise Thorne. He married Constance Roy Inches in 1909. He was called to the Bar in 1903 and appointed a K.C. in 1923. He entered the law firm of Barnhill, Sanford & Harrison in 1919, which after the retirment of Harrison in 1922 was carried on in the name of Sanford & Harrison. He was elected to the Provincial Legislature in 1925, and re-elected in 1930. He was appointed President of Executive Council in 1931, Attorney-General in 1933, and Judge of the Appeal Division of the Supreme Court of New Brunswick in 1935. He served overseas in WWI, first as a Major, then as a Lieutenant Colonel.

Mariner Gerald Teed was born in 1903, Dorchester, N.B., son of Mariner G. Teed and Margaret A. Hannington. He was a Rhodes Scholar in 1925-1928. He married Roberta B. Paterson in 1934. In 1928, Teed became associated with the firm of Sanford and Harrison, and on the appointment of Harrison to the Supreme Court, became a partner of Sanford, forming the legal partnership of Sanford and Teed.
