Biographical history
George Morrisey (ca. 1819-1861) emigrated to Saint John, New Brunswick, from England in 1836 and became a merchant and partner in the firm of Morrisey & Shivesby. He married Catherine Connor (d.1852), daughter of Thomas Connor (Kings County), in 1843. In 1854, he married Amelia Jane Seely, daughter of Gilbert Seely. His children included son George (b. 1845, later sea captain), Alfred (b. 1856) and Charles. Alfred Morrisey was a clerk at J. & A. McMillan. From 1887-1899 he operated his own book and stationery store on King Street, and later worked as a commercial traveller. In 1888, he married Lillian Fairweather, daughter of Charles Henry Fairweather. Their children were Henry Fairweather (1890-1942) and George (1892-1916).
Henry F. Morrisey was educated at the University of New Brunswick. He was appointed assistant engineer Department of Public Works of Canada and assistant engineer, River St. Lawrence Ship Channel previous to going overseas. During the Second World War he served with the Canadian Engineers and Royal Navy. Returning to Saint John, he was appointed district engineer, Department of Transport, Saint John, N.B. He married Marguerite, daughter of Colonel Henry Montgomery-Campbell, in 1925 and had three children: George Herbert, Frances Jane, and Edward Montgomery Campbell.

Scope and content
This fonds consists of family correspondence and legal documents. Included are the correspondence of George Morrisey, Amelia Jane (Seely), Alfred Morrisey, Mary Lilian Fairweather Morrisey, Henry Fairweather Morrisey, and the correspondence, will and other records of Charles Henry Fairweather. There are also accounts of the estate of William A. Robertson mainly dealing with repairs to Dock St. property, 1858-1896, invoices and receipts, mortgages, leases, insurance policies and printed ephemera.
