Notice biographique
Donald MacDonald (1762-1842) emigrated from Skye, Scotland, to Queen's County, New Brunswick, in the mid 1780s. By 1810 he had bought a grist mill at New Canaan where he and his wife, Anne Smith (1772-1853), had a family of 13 children.
In 1818 Alexander Black MacDonald (1794-1880), son of Donald and Ann MacDonald, married Janet Hendry (1795-1887), the eldest child of George Hendry and Susan Belyea. Alexander and Janet MacDonald worked the farm that was part of Janet's inheritance and raised seven children: Susan Ann, James Hendry, Donald, Alexander B. , George Hendry, William Lewis, and Malcolm C.
William Lewis MacDonald (1834-1936), son of Alexander and Janet MacDonald, was a dentist and medical doctor in Boston, Massachusetts. He married Emily Conant, a widow, in Boston.
