This collection contains correspondences, documents, photos, and other types of material related to Joseph and Effie Gibson and their descendants. Most of the correspondence in this collection concerns Joe Gibson, a Royal Canadian Air Force pilot and oldest son of Joseph and Effie Gibson. Many photos of him and his crewmates, his letters home from overseas, as well as his schoolwork and notes from leaning how to fly an aircraft are also included in this collection. Several items which concern the affairs of John Gibson, Joe Gibson’s younger brother, can be found in this collection. These include correspondences and legal documents related to the estate of Charlotte Gibson, his sister, as well as an agreement between John Gibson and the Canada Railroad Company concerning interest and his land. Most of the personal items and published material in this collection belonged to John Gibson as well, these include publications related to his position as a volunteer firefighter, reports of organizations he belonged to, maps of the Town of St. Andrews, notes related to his work as a stonemason, and other items.

The fonds includes Bettle's correspondence, military documents and ephemera from the Boer War and correspondence from his brother Harry who was serving in World War I. There are also a Cavalry Roll book, a freeman certificate for Saint John, newspaper articles concerning Loyalists and some printed items.

Private Percy Leonard Robertson

This fond contains documents about Private Percy Leonard Robertson and his involvement in the First World War. It contains a death certificate, newspaper clippings, telegrams, memorial scroll, death certificate and other documents.
Pte. Robertson was the son of Thomas & Lizzie Robertson of Hampton. He enlisted January 15, 1918 with the 13th Battalion, 1st Division. He was later assigned to the 26th Battalion and finally to the 44th Battalion.
In just nine short months, Percy served in the 2nd Battle of the Somme, 3rd Battle of Aisne, Battle of Le Hamel, 2nd Battle of the Marne, Battle of Amiens, and the 2nd Battle of Arras. Pte. Robertson was killed on September 2nd, 1918 at Dury in front of Arras, Northern France. Initially he was reported Missing in Action and his family received 3 brief telegrams with that status between September 21st and October 5th, 1918. On October 16th, a fourth and final telegram arrived with the message: “deeply regret to inform you Pte. P.L. Robertson infantry previously reported missing now officially reported Killed in Action September 2nd.” Further correspondence, including previously reported letter below, show that one year later, the family still did not know where their son & brother was buried. They eventually learned he was buried at the Dury Crucifix Cemetery, south-east of Arras.

This fonds documents the personal activities of two generations of the Reid family. It reflects Ivan William Reid's wartime experiences, his acquisition of land under the aegis of the Soldier Settlement Board, Gladys' R. Reid's personal experiences, and Margaret Campbell Reid's financial difficulties in the wake of her husband's death.

The fonds contains personal correspondence, wartime notebooks (Ivan Reid), legal documents related to the acquisition of land, estate documents (William and Margaret Reid), financial records, photocopied diary (Gladys Reid), genealogical material, interviews with neighbours, and a hand-drawn map of the Norton-Bloomfield area.

This fonds contains documents relating to Private Warren Hasting Huggard, who served in the First World War, including a discharge certificate, photograph, death certificate, envelope, authorization for pension payments and citation.
Private Warren Hasting Huggard 115th Battalion C.E.F. died in service to his country on November 26, 1922. Warren was born in Kings County, New Brunswick on September 2, 1897 to Richard and Edna May (Bassett) Huggard of Mercer Settlement.

John R. McCulley

The fonds consists of a diary kept by John R. McCulley during service in the Boer War. It includes a description of the voyage from Halifax, Nova Scotia. in February 1900, daily life aboard ship, arrival in Capetown, South Africa, and troop movements from March to December 1900 as well as details of the return voyage to Canada. There are some names soldiers killed in action and names of wounded, including the nature of their injuries. There is mention of outbreaks of enteric fever, including the author's own, place names such as Bloomfontein and Pretoria. There is a list of dates, with South African locations or engagements and remarks which were taken from the official record of the 1st Battalion, Canadian Mounted Rifles plus a few other facts pertinent to this unit including numbers of wounded and killed in action.

James Pringle

The fonds consists of South African War and World War I certificates and dispatches. The certificates include James Pringle's discharge from the South African War in 1900 and his service certificate from the First World War. There are mentions in two dispatches, issued by the War Office in London, for gallant and distinguished services in the field, dated 7 November 1917 and 7 April 1918.
