This fonds consists of both textual and microfilmed records. Textual records include a record book for the Fredericton Methodist Chapel Sunday school, 1821-1825, that gives the names of individuals enrolled in the school, and a printed programme for a memorial service held at Fredericton Methodist Church on 19 January 1919 for soldiers who died during World War I.

Microfilmed records include vital records covering the years 1793-1971, and include baptisms (1793-1971, excluding 1835), marriages (1835-1874, 1918-1933), and burials (1850, 1920-1971), along with trustees minutes (1861-1930) and quarterly board minutes (1900-1919).

Waterloo (ship) fonds

This fonds documents the timber trading activities of the ship "Waterloo" as transacted by its owners John Ward & Sons, of Saint John and their agents, between 1821 and 1826. It consists of a disbursment book that records the purchase of provisons and the hiring of labour for 10 timber voyages. Items and services purchased include foodstuffs, household supplies, insurance, rum, paint, oil, medical attendances, clothing, cartage, surveying, hauling and custom duties. For the most part, the names of the captains and seamen receiving wages, the amounts paid, and the type of labour performed are recorded. Occasionally expenses paid on the seamen's behalf, such as washing, tobacco, and rum are noted. Statements of sales of timber and cargo at Liverpool, statements of profit and loss, and accounts of cargos are also included.

A number of newspaper clippings, [ca. 1885], on a variety of subjects, such as shipping, steamboats, railways, bridges, politics, crime, and charitable organizations, relating primarily to the city of Saint John, were found tucked between the pages of the disbursement book. This material is also included with the fonds.

This fonds consists of correspondence addressed to Zula Hallett, Samuel J. Hallett, and Sophrinia Hallett (Dunphy) from their family and friends; greeting cards and postcards; a teacher's agreement; agreements of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows; minutes of the Baptist Church; various deeds, mortgages and other legal documents relating to property owned by the Halletts, Dunphys and the previous owners of that property; and a world map.

Fonds consists primarily of Eileen Cushing's papers with other family records. It includes her correspondence and accounts as well as her speeches, notes and other writings. There are family property deeds and some records and business correspondence of the Sulphite Fibre Company.

Cushing family genealogical information includes newspaper obituaries and press clippings, invitations, records of funerals and marriages, Sunday school tracts, pew rentals and records of church membership. Eileen Cushing's papers on Loyalists and early settlers and George S. Cushing's diaries, 1873-1904, are also included.

Raymond P. Gorham fonds

This fonds documents the professional career and personal activities of Raymond P. Gorham. It includes correspondence, biographical information, education memorabilia, photographs, maps, plans, pamphlets, and materials pertaining to the Cathedral Men's Club, the Natural History Society of New Brunswick, and the Canadian Society of Technical Agriculturalists.

The fonds also includes research materials, articles, essays, and papers on a variety of subjects -- entomology, science, Maritime pre-history, local history (University of New Brunswick, city of Fredericton, parish of Kingston, Kincardine settlement), ecclesiastical history (Anglican Church), and agricultural history. Gorham also compiled genealogical information on the Gorham, Allen, Fowler, Francis, Giles, Hoyt, Ingraham, Kierstead, Lyman, Lyon, Merritt, Murray, Paddock, Perkins, Perley, Prince, Raymond, and Paul families.

Lastly, the fonds contains a typescript copy of "The development of agricultural organization in Upper and Lower Canada during the period before Confederation," written by R. P. Gorham and dated May 1933.

The maps and plans have been transferred to the Map Section. The photographs are located in P118.
