This fonds contains a journal dated 1850 kept by William N. Smith during his voyage to Liverpool, England and back to Saint John. It provides details of daily life aboard ship and a record of the weather and setting of the course and sails. There are detailed illustrations, in both pencil and ink, of the "Susan" and other ships passed at sea as well as lighthouses.

The fonds consists of a journal or memorandum book compiled by Innes. It contains dates of death of her family members and other individuals, primarily Saint John residents; texts of sermons by clergy in Saint John including some for funerals; texts for prayers and Bible verses. There are 3 recipes for cures for such ailments as sore joints and rheumatism. Also included in the journal are dates and locations of fires in Saint John and Portland, and a few dates of storms and earthquakes or tremors. Dates of some marriages, mostly in Saint John and Portland, are also recorded in the journal.

This collection consists of family and business records belonging to the Hilyards and related families. The business records of Thomas Hilyard and, after 1873, Hilyard Brothers include lumbering agreements, invoices, accounts, mortgages, deeds, shipbuilding agreements and a volume with shipping accounts, lists of vessels built and voyages made. There are also journals, day books and other accounting records of Thomas Hilyard and Hilyard Bros, a record of lumber sawn at Hilyard Bros., payroll and time books Material belonging to the Seeley family includes records about the ship "Australasian", bonds, agreements, deeds, invoices and receipts to Alexander McLachlan Seely from Saint John businesses, insurance documents, accounts and personal correspondence. There is also information about the Acadia College Endowment Fund and Leinster Street Baptist Church and an account book of Spring Dale Paper Mill, 1877.
There are also records relating to the Saint John harbour issue, 1885-1914, and documents about the ship "Magna Charta", 1865-1884. Invoices, accounts, workmen's accounts and other material belonging to the related McDonald and Roberts families are also included. There is an abstract book of surveyors' summaries of lumber transported by scow, 1897-1900, and a letter book of F.W. Holt (Saint John civil engineer), 1909-1913.

The fonds consists of daybooks, account books and a ledger. The daybooks give details of their work such as items produced, the names of customers, charges, and materials used. They include repairs. There is also information on caskets and funerals, with names and dates. Account books include a list of funerals from 1867-1885 with names and ages of deceased. The ledger has a separate index. "The Cabinetmakers Assistant" published by Blackies in Glasgow, Scotland in 1853, containing furniture designs, is also included.

This fonds consists of a minute book and business papers. The minute book contains the Charter of the company and the by-laws, as well as information about the operation of the company and the directors of W. Hawker & Sons, including that son Samuel was managing the firm by 1920 and William C. planned to return to the United States to resume his drugstore business in 1920. Business papers include a stock transfer, a trust agreement, certified copy of company by-laws dated 1926 as well as a brief historical sketch of the company from its founding to the reorganization in 1926. There are also three deeds, 1926, which relate to William C. Hawker and his share of the business.
