This fonds consists mainly of the correspondence between John and his brother George while John was in Dumfries, 1826-1832, with George's accounts, 1821-1829. They record both sides of a business importing goods from Scotland and shipping timber to Scotland. There are also family records of the Thomson family, 1788-1908, Scoullar family, 1796-1856, and the Walker family, 1799-1835

Nehemiah Marks fonds

This collection consists of correspondence, financial records, military records, and legal documents relating to the personal and official activities of Captain Nehemiah Marks, and his son Lieutenant Colonel Nehemiah Marks. Included records of early surveys and explorations of the lands near St. Stephen along the western branch of the St. Croix (Scoodiac) river; military records of the 4th Battalion Charlotte County Militia and the 97th Infantry Regiment; deeds and quitclaims for property in the town of St. Stephen (Morriston); and articles and books relating to the Loyalist settlement of St. Stephen, a history of Trinity Church, and Thomas Baillie.

Addition of deeds and maps from Charlotte and York County pertaining to Nehemiah Marks granting, plotting, and surveying land. These also include plans for future railroad ideas and plans for St. Stephen and surrounding areas, with some maps going further up New Brunswick and one heavily damaged map of Maine in 1837.

This fonds consists of correspondence and other material assembled by the MacBeath family. It includes a letterbook of Allan MacBeath, 1857-1858; class lists of Victoria and Centennial schools (Saint John) kept by Edith MacBeath, 1888-1926; correspondence, notes and other material of T. Allan MacBeath and certificates and other material of MacBeath family.

Material created by other individuals and collected by MacBeath family includes a scrapbook kept by E.T.C. Knowles, 1870's; correspondence, deeds and other material related to the Botsford, Allan, Cornwall, McPherson, Millidge and Stephen families and a daybook of freight charges kept by Mr. Jones (general merchant, Petitcodiac Bend, Moncton) 1845-1847.

This collection contains documents belonging to Reverend Charles M. Smith of Rollingdam, New Brunswick, including both documents related to his research projects into local history as well as his duties as a Reverend. Documents related to these duties include marriage records for marriages performed by Charles Smith, and his notes and drafts for eulogies that were done at funeral services. Documents related to Charles Smith’s research projects include hand drawn and printed maps and drawings, published material and primary documents used by Charles Smith to support his research, and notes on church history, roadwork and early travel, local history, Charlotte County schools, and genealogical data. Also included are St. Croix Courier articles and essays written by Charles Smith, as well as the drafts for those items, and his correspondences, which include letters containing information related to his research and more personal letters.

This fonds consists of copies of a contract, 1790, between the Rector, wardens, and vestry and Solomon Dingee and James Peck to build the church. The contract gives details of the size, shape and materials to be used in the church, as well as financial provisions.

There are also copies of a letter, 1796, appointing the Rev. Richard Clark to the parish of Gagetown, and of a letter, 1890, the resignation of the Rev. H. Hackenly.

Although it is not a large collection, correspondence, certificates, diary and plans, which are included, provide valuable insight into the members of this talented family.

Dalton family

This fonds consists of the family and business papers of the Dalton family. There is family correspondence and also business correspondence between Richard Dalton and William Jarvis. The legal records include John Dalton's will, 1872; a coroner's certificate pertaining to Arthur B. Dalton's death, 1889; and a lease for property in Portland, between Samuel Dalton and Samuel Williams in 1838. There are also records of family plots in Saint John Rural Cemetery and Robert Dalton's personal accounts, 1860-1885.

Also included are an undated poem addressed to Miss M. Robertson, of Maugerville, N.B.; Bradberry Robinson's certificate as freeman of the city of Saint John, 1840; and.a muster roll, 1837, of 1st Company Rifle Battalion City Militia.
