The fonds consists of day books, 1886-1920 and ledgers, 1881-1921

This collection consists of the correspondence relating to railway history involving requests for information on specific trains to/from George Brown. Some correspondence is printed with company letterhead. A few pieces of correspondence have documents attached which relate to railway history. There is a letter referring to a trip around the world by Nellie Bly, a New York City newspaper reporter with the remark that some portions of her trip were done by train.

This folder includes items relating to various Sons of Temperance socieities in New Brunswick:

• Constitutions, Bye-Laws and Rules of York Division, No. 2, Sons of Temperance, of the Province of New Brunswick; 1853.
• Minutes of the semi-annaul and annual sessions of the Grand Division, Sons of Temperance, of New Brunswick. Woodstock, NB. 1888.
• Grand Division of S. of T., Semi-Annual Session, Campbellton, 22 May 1889.

Fonds consists mainly of the business records of the Whelpley family, particularly James A. Whelpley. There are deeds and legal agreements relating to family and business properties, including agreements with the Keene Manufacturing Company about manufacturing Whelpley patented skates. There are patents and applications for patents in United States, Canada, Britain, Germany, France and Hungary.

The business correspondence deals mainly with orders for skates from Canada, United States and Scotland. There are financial records and accounts, including a mortgage and an insurance policy for the family business. There is also a group of records dealing with participation in exhibitions, including Canada's International Exhibition in 1890 in Saint John and the World's Columbian Exposition at Chicago, 1893.
