This fonds contains materials relating to the activities of the Gilbert and Sullivan Society of Fredericton (New Brunswick) over its first five years and to the public responses received to its musical performances.

There are 10 scrapbooks, each containing textual material, newspaper clippings, and photographs chronicling the staging of a production, including scripts, rehearsals, programmes, tickets, advertising, and reviews. Musical productions represented include Palace of Varieties (1979), Iolanthe (1979), Victorian Cabaret (1978), The Mikado (1980), Pirates of Penzance (1976), An Evening with Gilbert and Sullivan (1976-1979), Patience (1977), Fools and Lovers (1977), and Gondoliers (1978).

Roberts's royalty statements, correspondence from his publishers, his literary agreements, and clippings about his literary activities. The fonds also includes a very few typescript, holograph, or published copies of works by Bliss Carman, Theodore Goodridge Roberts, Leila Roberts, and other writers.

Copies of literary works, in both printed form and manuscript, form the bulk of the fonds. Photographs are largely studio prints of family members in NB, especially Woodstock and Doaktown. Also included are photographs from a funeral procession for Peter Veregin, leader of a Doukhobor sect.

This fonds documents the literary career of poet and prose writer Charles G.D. Roberts, which spanned more than six decades. It also reflects his activities both as an editor and a promoter of Canadian literature and Canadian writers. In addition, the fonds sheds light on his family life, his travels abroad, his years in the British and Canadian armies, his work with the Canadian Authors' Association, his financial difficulties, and his personal relationships. It also provides information about the literary careers of other members of the Roberts family, most notably, Theodore Goodridge Roberts and Lloyd Roberts.

It contains correspondence, a family scrapbook, Roberts's notebook, and holograph and typescript poems, stories and essays by Roberts, Bliss Carman and other writers. The fonds also includes copies of published poems, essays and stories by Charles G.D. Roberts, Bliss Carman, Theodore Goodridge Roberts, Lloyd Roberts, and Dorothy Roberts Leisner as well as published articles about Charles G.D. Roberts and other members of the Roberts family.
