The fonds has not yet been arranged and described. It includes records of Ganong Brothers Limited, White Candy Company, Corona Company and Home Paper Box Company. There are record books from 1892 to 1946 (and possibly earlier) including minutes, year-end accounts and by-laws. There are bound ledgers and other loose records which include Board of Directors' meetings, payroll information, financial records, annual reports and sales analysis. There are also patents, licences and property deeds. A diary (1874-1878) belonging to Gilbert White Ganong, gives details of the early business. Advertising and publicity material is also included.

This report was prepared for Lieutenant-Governor Arthur Hamilton Gordon by Lieutenant-Colonel J.A. Inches on 24 May 1866. It discusses in detail the activities of the Fenians in the Calais, Maine, and St. Stephen, New Brunswick, on 23 and 24 May 1866.

George S. Grimmer

This fonds consists mainly of the correspondence, legal and land documents accumulated by George S. Grimmer in his public offices in Charlotte County. There are a wide range of subjects including taxes and fees, legal cases and land purchases. The records deal with schools and teachers salaries, the administration of the courts, election arrangements and voters lists, the licensing of commercial activities and the appointment of local government officials such as fish wardens and liquor dealers. There are frequent mentions of ships and ship building, especially the schooner "Mary Ellen" and of roads and bridges. There is also a reference to the defenses against the Fenians in 1865.

There are also some household receipts and other records. The papers of F. Howard Grimmer, 1858-1903, are also included.

Edgar R. Jamieson family fonds

This fonds consists primarily of records pertaining to Edgar R. Jamieson's World War II activities and the Jamieson family history. There are also letters addressed to Blanche Jamieson from Edgar Jamieson, sent while he was serving overseas with the Canadian Army.

Edgar R. Jamieson's World War II records include his Canadian Army Clothing and Equipment Statement, [1943]; Canadian Militia Soldier's Pay Books, 1939-1945; Canadian Army Soldier's Pay Books, 1940-1945; two C.S.M. Nominal Roll Books for A. Company, Carleton and York Regiment that record the names of soldiers, their service numbers, and notes concerning their service (killed, wounded, evacuated, missing etc.), 1940s; and a map of the West End of London, [1940s?].

Blanche Jamieson's records consist of 52 letters sent to her by her brother, Edgar, that shed light on his wartime activities. The letters were sent from Woodstock, Halifax, aboard ship, England, France, and Italy. Transcriptions of these letters are also included in the fonds.

Jamieson family genealogy records consist of a 2 pp. family tree and copies of printed family histories entitled, "Descendants of John Jamieson" (25 pp.); "Descendants of Unknown Hamilton" (9 pp.); and "Descendants of George Blaney" (25 pp.).

Lastly the fonds consists of a World War I "Souvenir from France" -- a stitched post card containing a note written to Lillian from Steven L. Sloan, France, 15 July 1918, and a transcription of a letter written by James H. Blaney to his mother, July 31, 1859.

Charles Smith Collection

This collection contains documents belonging to Reverend Charles M. Smith of Rollingdam, New Brunswick, including both documents related to his research projects into local history as well as his duties as a Reverend. Documents related to these duties include marriage records for marriages performed by Charles Smith, and his notes and drafts for eulogies that were done at funeral services. Documents related to Charles Smith’s research projects include hand drawn and printed maps and drawings, published material and primary documents used by Charles Smith to support his research, and notes on church history, roadwork and early travel, local history, Charlotte County schools, and genealogical data. Also included are St. Croix Courier articles and essays written by Charles Smith, as well as the drafts for those items, and his correspondences, which include letters containing information related to his research and more personal letters.

McKenzie Family Collection
