Dalling family

This fonds consists mainly of documents related to the Dalling family's personal activities rather than to the family's jewelry store. There are photographs, correspondence, journals, photoplays and essays, social memorabilia, memorials, and newspaper clippings. Photographs date from 1885 to 1960 and are of Woodstock landmarks and the surrounding landscape. There are also photographs taken of family members and of Carleton County residents.

Correspondence includes letters written from W.V. Dalling to Mrs. H.V. Dalling and business associates, 1889-1917; and letters written to Edith Dalling, 1920-1929. The journals belong to Mrs. H.V. Dalling, 1886-1898, Estella B. Townsend, 1908-1927, Edith Dalling, 1914, and Leslie Mavor,1958. Photoplays and essays were written by William and Orville Dalling and John McKilligan. Social memorabilia includes programs, dance cards, and invitations. Memorials include cards for the deaths of John McKilligan, Ruby Dalling, Thomas Dalling, and Matilda Dalling. Newspaper clippings concern H.V. Dalling and his manufacturing of the first two telephones in Woodstock.

Arthur Maxwell Fisher

Fonds consists of Arthur M. Fisher's school diploma, World War I related news clippings, postcards, photographs of Fisher as a soldier in the First World War (all informal poses), and a scrapbook containing social memorabilia. There is also correpondence about Fisher's death; a 1925 letter regarding Fisher's decoration received by Mildred Fisher; and a book, The War Graves of the British Empire, containing brief biographical information on Arthur Fisher.

Vince family

Fonds consists of account books for the administration of the estates of local businessmen and members of the Vince family. There are deeds, correspondence written between Vince family members, and photographs, dating between 1910 and 1942. Photographs show military men and units in Carleton County, Halifax, and England, and snapshots of family members. Also included in the fonds are scrapbooks containing memorabilia of military personnel and personal documents, and eight maps showing four military maneuvers and the locations of Liverpool, England; Miramichi Bay, NB; and Carleton County, NB.

Fonds consists of Edward Raban Vince's 1920-1951 daily journals, a cheque book, military catalogues and manuals concerning military policies, regulations and personnel. There are also two photograph albums dated, 1905-1923. Photographs show Carleton County residents, military officers, family and Carleton County social events, and landscape snapshots.

Mabel Eliza Lewin

This fonds documents Mabel Lewin's service as a nurse during the First World War. The fonds contains correspondence between Lewin and wounded WWI soldiers who were in her care, postcards of locations she served and of places where the soldiers she corresponded with served in Europe, and snapshots taken of nurses and officers whom Lewin met and served with. There are also magazines and newspapers dated 1937-1951.

Fonds mainly consists of documents related to Walter Oswald Chestnut's career as a physician. Fonds includes appointment books, closed medical records, patient correspondence, published medical reports, financial materials including income tax (1938-1987) and cash books, and certificates consisting of marriage, funeral, birth, and Chestnut's obituary. There are Chestnut geneological notes, Chestnut's 1987 probate, and his wife Nina's certificate of birth, 1904. Photographs consist of both black and white and coloured photographs, dated 1900-1986, which include personal photographs of Walter and Nina, the Vaness family, family social events, and professional functions.

Dr. Thomas Farmer Sprague

This fonds consists mainly of documents pertaining to Dr. T. F. Sprague's professional career as a doctor. There are account books which include the names of his patients, the cost of their visits, amount paid, and in most cases, the purpose of the visit, i.e. dressing for hand, injury. There are notes of whether medicine was given to the patient, but the type of medicine is not named nor whether the patient was cured. Also included are T. F. Sprague's personal financial receipts, correspondence with patients related to money owed, and certificates T. F. Sprague received throughout his career as a physician.

Lewis Peter Fisher

This fonds mainly consists of legal documents and correspondence pertaining to L.P. Fisher's profession as an attorney in Carleton County. There are signed mortgages, deeds, insurance policies, bonds, and leases written and witnessed by Lewis P. Fisher for clients of his law practice. The documents contain the names of the people or companies involved in the contracts, the cost involved in the transaction, and the location of the property. Almost all of these documents were created during Fisher's partnership with Jones, 1845-1875. Fonds also consists of Lewis Fisher's receipts and financial correspondence mostly written or received by the Commercial Bank while Fisher was acting as its agent. Legal documents concerning Fisher's activities as a land owner include materials pertaining to the sale and purchase of property, cost, descriptions, and location information. Estate materials in the fonds consist of correspondence and account information mostly handled by Allison B. Connell, one of the executors of Fisher's estate.

Deeds contain the date, description of property, amount, and names of those involved in the transaction. Financial documents include two cash books, a ledger, and insurance renewal for George H. Connell and Charles Connell. Descriptions of property name the location, acreage, and names of owners.
