W.O. Raymond

This collection consists of 4 microfilms of W. O. Raymond's scrapbooks containing copies of his writings clipped from newspapers (1884-1916). There is also a photocopy of another 289 page scrapbook created by Raymond from clippings from the Woodstock " Dispatch", 1894-1896 and the Saint John "Telegraph" ca. 1897.

Also included is a photocopy of a two volume genealogy of the Raymond family, compiled by Raymond and including information on the Carman, Moore, Hallet, Lamb, Horsfeld Beardsley, Dibblee, Barlow and Jarvis families.

Additonal items transferred from the L. P. Fisher Library in 2015 include a journal kept by Raymond while a student at Montreal Diocesan Theological College from 1903-1904; a handwritten account of proceedings in Woodstock regarding "Fenian trouble," recorded in 1865; a ledger of Woodstock area barristers including J. C. Winslow, L. P. Fisher and W. H. Tucks, 1858-1866; "A System of Drill and Maoeuvres for the Militia of New Brunswick as Revised by Major-General Sir Henry Torrens", 1827, and other publications the formed part of the Raymond Room at the L. P. Fisher Library.

Fonds consists of an 1884 Winslow family Bible containing names of Winslow family members and names of the related Smith and Connell families. Names include: Muriel Stevens Smith, Roy Fraser Armstrong, Donald Fraser Armstrong, Helen Margaret Armstrong, Mary Gretchen Connell Smith, John Douglas Winslow, Mary Helen Winslow, John Edward Connell Winslow, Muriel Elizabeth Robert Winslow, Benjamin Henry Smith, Helen Ella Smith, and Henry Eric Connell Smith. Also included are dates of marriages, deaths, and births. Fonds also contains photographs, dated late 1800s to 1915, of unidentified individuals and a certificate of marriage between Benjamin Henry Smith and Helen Ella Connell, Henry Eric Connell Smith's baptism, and Helen Ella Connell's birth certificate.

This fonds documents the personal, professional, and military activities of several generations of the Winslow family. It includes correspondence, accounts, diaries, claims, deeds, grants, commissions, court records, and memorials. It also includes a military campaign journal and a field book of the Chibnitook survey.

There are family correspondence and papers, 1695-1866, relating principally to Edward Winslow, Jr. and General Henry Fox's letterbook, August to September 1783, relating primarily to public business in Nova Scotia. Seven letterbooks of Edward Winslow's letters to his wife, Mary Symonds Winslow, 1784, are included as well as five letterbooks of Mather Byles, containing letters to Winslow, 1784-1786, and Stephen Miller's book.

The financial records include W. Winslow accounts, 1794-1800, and Edward Winslow accounts, 1770-1811. There are three diaries of Benjamin Marston's, 1778-1787, a campaign journal, 1779, and Edward Winslow's diary, 1779-1810. Also included are sketches, the field book of the Chibnitook survey (original), 1797-1799, land claims, land records, and other legal and court records. Among the court records are a record of 3 cases before the New Brunswick Court of Common Pleas, 1796-1808, 3 volumes on the Maine-New Brunswick Boundary Arbitration, 1796-1808, and memorials, commissions, claims, and remarks by Ward Chipman, British agent, and James Sullivan, ship's agent.
