Charles Smith Collection

This collection contains documents belonging to Reverend Charles M. Smith of Rollingdam, New Brunswick, including both documents related to his research projects into local history as well as his duties as a Reverend. Documents related to these duties include marriage records for marriages performed by Charles Smith, and his notes and drafts for eulogies that were done at funeral services. Documents related to Charles Smith’s research projects include hand drawn and printed maps and drawings, published material and primary documents used by Charles Smith to support his research, and notes on church history, roadwork and early travel, local history, Charlotte County schools, and genealogical data. Also included are St. Croix Courier articles and essays written by Charles Smith, as well as the drafts for those items, and his correspondences, which include letters containing information related to his research and more personal letters.

This collection contains correspondences, documents, photos, and other types of material related to Joseph and Effie Gibson and their descendants. Most of the correspondence in this collection concerns Joe Gibson, a Royal Canadian Air Force pilot and oldest son of Joseph and Effie Gibson. Many photos of him and his crewmates, his letters home from overseas, as well as his schoolwork and notes from leaning how to fly an aircraft are also included in this collection. Several items which concern the affairs of John Gibson, Joe Gibson’s younger brother, can be found in this collection. These include correspondences and legal documents related to the estate of Charlotte Gibson, his sister, as well as an agreement between John Gibson and the Canada Railroad Company concerning interest and his land. Most of the personal items and published material in this collection belonged to John Gibson as well, these include publications related to his position as a volunteer firefighter, reports of organizations he belonged to, maps of the Town of St. Andrews, notes related to his work as a stonemason, and other items.

Plan of the estate of Harie I Thomson and the Town of St George, by John MacCallum. 1870. Traced from original plan June 1917 by M.G. Rigby, Imperial Tracing. Includes town plots, with names of owners noted. Also marked are the brickyard, customs house, hotel, barn, school, church, burial ground, and the block house field. The "Great Road to Saint John" runs through the middle, and also included are: Main Street, Clinch Street, Church Street, Wetmore Street, Carleton Street, and the Maguagadavic River.

Fonds consists of materials created or accumulated by Wallace Broad and his daughter Katie Broad, including photographs, postcards, reports, booklets, programmes, and legal papers. The materials relating to Wallace Broad derive mostly from his affiliation with the University of New Brunswick and his activities as a geologist and engineer in the British Empire, including work in Canada, Africa, and China. Materials relating to Katie Broad consist of 9 albums of postcards, mostly sent to Katie Broad or her family members, from locations across the world including Canada, England, China, South Africa, Australia, India, Barbados, and the United States.

E. Jacqueline Davis Fonds

Textual and photographic material related to E. Jacqueline Davis during her time as a nurse in the US Army during WW2. The textual material includes orders which include E. Jacqueline Davis from her time working at Cushing General Hospital in Framingham, Massachusetts, as well as her letters home from her time serving in a camp on the island of Tinian in the Pacific Ocean. The photographs are contained in an album, along with news clippings and other ephemera.

Freeman Hale Todd family fonds

This collection contains documents pertaining to Freeman Hale Todd's business ventures, including his logging and lumber business along the St Croix River Region, as well as his merchant and grocery businesses. These include account books, promissory notes, receipts and documents related to shipping as well as deeds, indentures, mortgages, assignments of land and insurance policies. There are also wills, family papers and matters relating to Probate that pertain to Freeman Hale Todd's estate after his death on 9 September 1885. Documents involving a co-partnership between Ninian Lindsay Todd and F. H. Todd & Sons are also included. Freeman Hale Todd's election address from when he was elected in 1865 as a candidate opposing the Confederation of New Brunswick with Canada also fall under the scope of this collection. There are also some documents related to his eldest son Frank Todd which include promissory notes, receipts, correspondences, and mortgages related to his business ventures and investments in Maine and New Brunswick.
