Advertisements

This subseries contains a few different advertisements, including a form from the First Realty Company of New Brunswick Limited showing information on a house in St. Andrews being sold by the estate of Laura Webb, a business card directory for Charlotte County for 1997, an advertisement for enlarging negatives, and a booklet titled “The Ripley Patent Perfect Fireplace Damper by the G. R. Locker Co.” which contains notes on this company’s new fireplace damper.

Agendas

This subseries contains agendas for St. Andrews Navy League meetings. These agendas outline the structure of their corresponding meeting, which usually involved the reading of the previous meeting’s minutes, treasurer’s reports, reading correspondence, and discussing new and old business and upcoming events. Topics include recruitment, event organization, public relations, internal policies, fundraising, logistics for running a cadet corps, and the structure of the St. Andrews Navy League. There are also a few agendas for special meetings, such as an emergency meeting on cadet behavior, an informational meeting for parents, and a combined general meeting and open house which would have involved presentations, displays, and answering questions about the cadet movement.

Awards

Included in this subseries are a bundle of Navy League of Canada Community Service Awards, all of which are blank or missing certain fields, as well as a list of rewards and their recipients within the New Brunswick division of the Navy League for 1995. Lastly, there is a bundle of documents related to the Lions and The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. This bundle contains a pamphlet outlining the aims and purpose of the Duke Edinburgh’s Award and its requirements, a newspaper article on two of its recipients, and a registration form for this award filled in by #303 Sea Cadets in St. Andrews.

Bayside Community Hall

Original blueprints (drawings) of the Bayside Community Hall in 1988, drawn by R. Day (double check name), done by Rob Par – Professional Drafting Services. Also accompanied by two smaller cropped copies written on to remodel the building, neither labelled with a date or writer. Two newspaper articles relating to the Bayside Community Hall were enclosed in the folder, also without mentioned dates. Originally stored in original brown folder with the label “Bayside Community Hall”

Booklets

This subseries contains a few published booklets, which includes Vol. X No. 12 (June 1890) of the Independent Forrester, a publication of a fraternal and benefit society which contains news related to that society. Also included are a small red booklet titled “Exhibits and Evidence from the Office of the Fire Marshall, Fredericton, NB” which contains articles meant to help NB firemen prevent arson and deal with witnesses and evidence, as a well as a pamphlet titled “Notes for the General Information and Guidance of the Next-of-Kin or other Relatives of Airmen Reported Missing, Deceased, Prisoners of War, or Interned” which contains notes on how the affairs of these Airmen will be handled in various situations.

Cadet Evaluations

This subseries contains evaluations on the training of a pair of specific Sea Cadets, as well as other documents related to the progression of a cadet’s training and the assessment of that progression. These include notes on a first aid training course, an exam to be taken by Sea Cadets looking to advance to the rank of LC-PO2, and messages from the commanding officer of the #303 Sea Cadets in St. Andrews on how their training is progressing. There are also two bundles of documents which contain certificates of service, course reports, applications, awards, and assessments of physical fitness for a pair of cadets named Jolene Rae McCurdy and Joseph Jay Forward. Jolene’s documents are part of her application to serve for a time on board the H.M.C.S. Margaree in the Caribbean, while Joseph’s is meant to assess whether he is ready to advance to a cadet staff position.

Certificates

This subseries includes a bundle of blank certificates meant to be given out to Navy League and Sea Cadet members in recognition of their service. These include a certificate meant to acknowledge participation in Navy League centennial events, a certificate of Navy League service, and a certificate of service for a Sea Cadet.
