The fonds consists of office files of Minto Local #7409, United Mine Workers of America (UMWA) including general correspondence, minutes of meetings, reports, and records of the collection of dues. There are printed reports and records of negotiations with employers and the Workmen's Compensation Board. There is also a microfilm (F1325) that contains the local's minutes, 1950-1964, as well as a few briefs, and submissions.

Labour and Business in New Brunswick Project

The collection consists of tape recordings and transcripts of oral interviews with 19 individuals prominent in labour relations in New Brunswick. They are: James Addison, Edward Charlton, N. Douglas Cochrane, Frank X. Crilley, Alfred J. Doucet, Donald C. Duffie, Hugh John Flemming, Edgar E. Fournier, Milton Gregg, Henry Harm, Donald Macdonald, Angus Macleod, Ben Medjuck, John A. Paterson, Horace Pettigrove, Joseph P. Vandenbroeck and H.D. Woods.

Topics include personal recollections of employment and early education as well as personal participation in union affairs and industrial relations from both sides. The activities of provincial and federal governments in the field of labour relations and development of major industrial systems in the province are discussed. The interviewees represent the view points of labour, industry, and government.

This fonds consists of records pertaining to the proposed construction of stone buildings at Miramichi, Northumberland County, New Brunswick. Included are the specifications for a guard house, cook house, privies, and well [1827]; a letter addressed to Captain Douglas, Fredericton, from G. Graydon, Captain Royal Engineers, dated at Fredericton, 11 July 1827, enclosing these plans for a subaltern detachment at Miramichi; an estimate for the barracks at Miramichi; and a hand-drawn architectural plan of the proposed subaltern barracks by G. Graydon, dated 1827.

This fond consists of the business records of Erlon Bell and his son, Samuel W. Bell. It includes correspondence, account books, day books, ledgers, cashbooks, accounts receivable, time books, wage books, journals, payroll record cards, year-end statements, vouchers, and invoices. Also included are workers group insurance records, workmen's compensation records, legal records, and information relating to cutting and scaling.

There are also materials related to a number of companies, including North Carleton Land Co. (1965-1967), Carleton Development Co. Ltd., Monquart Lumber Co. Ltd., Woodstock Woodworking Factory Ltd., Lockhart Woodworking Limited, Flemming Industries Ltd., Flemming & Gibson Ltd., Dead River-Merican Industries Ltd. A few personal records of both Erlon Bell and Samuel Bell (correspondence, bills, school trustee papers, school books, photographs) are also included.
