Jackie Gibson Collection

This collection contains correspondences, documents, photos, and other types of material related to Joseph and Effie Gibson and their descendants. Most of the correspondence in this collection concerns Joe Gibson, a Royal Canadian Air Force pilot and oldest son of Joseph and Effie Gibson. Many photos of him and his crewmates, his letters home from overseas, as well as his schoolwork and notes from leaning how to fly an aircraft are also included in this collection. Several items which concern the affairs of John Gibson, Joe Gibson’s younger brother, can be found in this collection. These include correspondences and legal documents related to the estate of Charlotte Gibson, his sister, as well as an agreement between John Gibson and the Canada Railroad Company concerning interest and his land. Most of the personal items and published material in this collection belonged to John Gibson as well, these include publications related to his position as a volunteer firefighter, reports of organizations he belonged to, maps of the Town of St. Andrews, notes related to his work as a stonemason, and other items.

A binder which contains a brief essay on the Royal West India Rangers regiment by Daniel F. Johnson of the Saint John branch of the New Brunswick Genealogical Society, articles on military settlers in New Brunswick, and lists of members of the Royal West India Rangers who were disbanded in New Brunswick. Inserted is a note: "it appears that many surnames on the Royal West India Rangers list are also Charlotte County names or perhaps have connections to them or to this area".

Maritimes and Northeast Pipeline Collection

This collection contains documents related to a pipeline project by the Maritimes and Northeast Pipeline, which would bring natural gas from Sable Island to the Saint John region, as well as the Charlotte County region through a lateral addition that would extend south of Lake Utopia. Contains newspaper articles on the project, as well as articles by Mike Whalen representing the Maritimes and Northeast Pipeline and answering questions. Also included are announcements of open houses and informational documents, pamphlets, and booklets. These informational documents discuss both the Maritimes and Northeast Pipeline Project itself, as well as pipelines and natural gas in general.

St. Andrews Navy League Fonds

The items in this collection belonged to the St. Andrews branch of the New Brunswick Navy League, itself part of the larger Canadian Navy League. The purpose of the St. Andrews Navy League was to organize, manage, promote, and provide funding for a local Sea Cadet corps which they were a sponsor of, the #303 Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps “St. Croix”, formerly “St. Andrew” when it was first formed in 1987. The items in this collection provide information on how the St. Andrews Navy League would support their cadet corps and the different kinds of activities their Sea Cadet corps would participate in.

The different types of items include correspondence, either with people or organizations outside the Navy League or within the Navy League, programs and pamphlets meant to promote the Sea Cadet movement or specific Sea Cadet and Navy League events, documents related to St. Andrews Navy League meetings, including minutes, agendas, and supplementary notes, blank awards or certificates to recognize the contributions of Navy League members or Sea Cadets, documents on the history of the Navy League, documents which outline the internal policies of the Navy League organization, news items and announcements published for promotional purposes which were circulated in public newspapers or within the Navy League and Sea Cadets, documents related to training cadets, financial information, and documents which outline how the Navy League and the different events it would organize were structured.

Charlotte County Essays

This collection contains a pair of essays whose topics are related to Charlotte County. The first is titled “Cultural Life of Charlotte County: Presentation to Heritage Canada” by Margaret Ray Peterson, which discusses the culture of Charlotte County and how it can still be seen today. The second essay is titled “The National Policy and the Industrialization of the Maritimes, 1880-1910” by T.W. Acheson, which discusses an economic transition which occurred in the Maritimes during the late 1800s.
