Freeman Hale Todd family fonds

This collection contains documents pertaining to Freeman Hale Todd's business ventures, including his logging and lumber business along the St Croix River Region, as well as his merchant and grocery businesses. These include account books, promissory notes, receipts and documents related to shipping as well as deeds, indentures, mortgages, assignments of land and insurance policies. There are also wills, family papers and matters relating to Probate that pertain to Freeman Hale Todd's estate after his death on 9 September 1885. Documents involving a co-partnership between Ninian Lindsay Todd and F. H. Todd & Sons are also included. Freeman Hale Todd's election address from when he was elected in 1865 as a candidate opposing the Confederation of New Brunswick with Canada also fall under the scope of this collection. There are also some documents related to his eldest son Frank Todd which include promissory notes, receipts, correspondences, and mortgages related to his business ventures and investments in Maine and New Brunswick.

This fonds consists of John Beckett's journal of a voyage to Glasgow on board the "Adept of Glasgow" in 1858. There is also a typewritten transcript of the journal and a photocopy of John Beckett's obituary, 1889. The diary records daily activities and notes about his trip home, his first since emigrating. He had visits with his mother, brothers Alexander and Hugh, uncles and aunts, cousins and friends.

This collection contains documents related to a pipeline project by the Maritimes and Northeast Pipeline, which would bring natural gas from Sable Island to the Saint John region, as well as the Charlotte County region through a lateral addition that would extend south of Lake Utopia. Contains newspaper articles on the project, as well as articles by Mike Whalen representing the Maritimes and Northeast Pipeline and answering questions. Also included are announcements of open houses and informational documents, pamphlets, and booklets. These informational documents discuss both the Maritimes and Northeast Pipeline Project itself, as well as pipelines and natural gas in general.

This fonds is a daybook detailing Thomas Johnson's business transactions and activities from 6 January 1819 through 11 August 1826. He sold a variety of goods, including: pork, seed, corn, wheat, potatoes, timber, beans, cloth, buttons, pantaloons, codfish, beef, coffee, and newspapers. Johnson also took in letters to be delivered, and recorded the senders and sometimes the recipients. His patrons appear to be locals, and included: George Goodwin, Samuel G. Johnson, John Hawthorne, James Johnson, James Cainey, Edward Austin, Capt. Isaac Lilly, Rev. Freeman Parker, David Clancy, Capt. Jonathan A. Tupper, James Whitman, Julianne Saunders, Louisa Prescott, Jeremiah Goodwin, Benjamin Prescott, Samuel Bridge and Samuel White. Also found in the daybook are two loose sheets of typed paper that appear to be templates for contracts drawn up by the justice of the peace in 1830 and [183-].
