Saint John Board of Trade
This fonds consists of records of the society. There is a letter book, 1878-1898, containing copies of letters sent by the society, mostly dealing with purchases of law books, journals, and general supplies.
Council records, 1893-1957, consist of annual reports by the presidents, with individual reports by the secretary-treasurer and the librarian and a record of the yearly election of officers. The General Meetings Records (minutes), 1900-1947, consist of the routine business of the society and include financial records and mentions of the death of members. There are newsclippings pasted throughout this book.
The loose papers in file folders include financial reports, 1925-1926 and 1930-1931; president's reports for 1942-1943 and 1943-1944; and a small amount of general correspondence dealing with book orders.

This fonds consists of the firm's precedents and briefs with emphasis on the decade following 1920. Much of the collection reflects the work of Charles S. Sanford, M. Gerald Teed, and John P. Palmer. The fonds has a broad geographical span. The cases are civil, not criminal, with a focus on corporate and trust company law.

The fonds consists of typed transcriptions of letters written by Ritchie to his mother while serving in the South Africa (Boer) War. The letters are dated 17 January 1900, 22 February 1900, and 28 February 1900 written from Belmont and Paardeberg Drift, South Africa. Letters describe William Ritchie's experience fighting the Boers in graphic detail and give information about the everyday life of a soldier in the Boer War. The letter dated 22 February vividly describes a charge on the Boers during which he received a superficial wound from shrapnel while under fire from 5 different points. Included in the letters are a few references to letters received from family members in Canada, receiving copies of Saint John newspapers and his comments about city councillors.

The fonds consists of Joseph Lawrence's notes on New Brunswick history. The notes include an outline of the plans for an Arbor Day Tree Planting in conjunction with the 1883 Loyalist Centennial celebration in Saint John, N.B. A notebook provides biographical information on the Hon. George Street and L.A. Wilmot.
Also included is the reminiscences of Lawrence's association with Sir Leonard Tilley, (1835-1885) which provides details of their shared interests, especially politics. There are notes about 1783 early history of New Brunswick and an account of the Maria Anning trust deed. Joseph Lawrence was the chairman of this trust and the matter of the family dispute over a will was finally settled by the courts. There is also a list of persons admitted as attorneys and barristers from 1785-1836.
