This fonds mainly consists of materials related to John Louis Carleton's activities as an amateur playwright. The fonds includes correspondence between J. L. Carleton and Cornhill Publishing Co., newspaper clippings, show programs, and manuscripts of the following plays: "The Medieval Hun," "Lores Defender," "The Dungarvans," "Oh How Delightful," "The Crimson Wing," "The O'Mahoney," "The Middogue," "The Lord of Cashel," "The Purple Testament," "Ready, Aye Ready," and an untitled play.

This fonds consists of manuscripts and copies of Squires' writings including:

  • Two copies of "Signposts of History" by Squires, read before the Fortnightly Club in 1958;
  • a typescript of "Historic Sites of New Brunswick" by Squires under the auspices of the New Brunswick Historic Sites Advisory Board;
  • a typescript of "The Indians of Acadia" by Squires (published by the museum in 1972); and
  • a typescript of "A Naturalist in New Brunswick" by Squires, 1968.

Bliss Carman

This collection consists of a letter written by Bliss Carman in 1915 while he was living in Haines Falls, NY., and addressed to Glen Walton Blodgett in Buffalo. Carman writes that he is honoured to be invited to a function in the company of distinguished guests. There is also a copy of the poem "In Excelsis", dated Christmas 1924, and printed on a single sheet of deckled, heavy weight paper. Both items bear Bliss Carman's signature.

This fonds consists of a typescript of a lecture by Jack Humphrey given at Mount Allison University Art Workshop in 1956. The lecture deals with the elements of painting, composition and design. It discusses Fauvism, Cubism and Impressionism as well as technique and colour theory for painting in both oil and watercolour, and basic materials used in art. The original lecture was apparently illustrated, but the illustrations are no longer present.

Fonds consists of correspondence, minutes, reports, scrapbooks, albums, financial records and printed ephemera. It includes papers delivered by members on a variety of musical topics. There are membership lists, a book of remembrance for past members, and a photograph album, 1926-1946. The ephemera includes scrapbooks of programs and newspaper clippings. There are constitutions and rules, 1926-1947 and programs from 1925-1958.

Collection contains copies of notes on the traditional, folk, and Gaelic songs, from the Maritimes, contained on the discs made by Helen Creighton for the Archives of Folklore Division, Library of Congress, Washington, 1943-44, and 10 audio reels, on which the songs are recorded.

Also includes thank you letter from George Proctor, Professor and Head of Music Department, 1971, to Helen Creighton, for a letter and the transcriptions of the songs collected.

Fonds consists mainly of records created and accumulated by Pomeroy as biographer and friend of author and poet Charles G.D. Roberts. Records document Roberts’ work, including his interests in the Tantramar area of New Brunswick, where he spent the majority of his childhood, and his relationship with Pomeroy. They also shed light on Pomeroy’s activities as collector and interpreter of Canadian literature mainly between 1920-1950. Records related to Bliss Carman, Arthur Stringer, Marshall Saunders, Mary Electa Adams, Isabella Crawford, Dorothy Leisner Roberts, Annie Charlotte Dalton, G.B. Lancaster are also included. Files contain correspondence; published and unpublished poetry and prose by various authors; scrapbooks; photographs; postcards; and clippings.
