Allen family fonds

Fonds consists of correspondence, certificates, clippings, recipe books, photographs, memorial tributes and obituaries, poetry and related documentation that gives evidence of the lives of members of the Allen family. The contents of the fonds document connections with the Mount Allison Ladies' College via student Bertha Allen and provide links to the literary Roberts family.

Fonds consists of a scrapbook, in which there are: clippings; brochures; programs, many of which are pertaining to Mount Allison events; cards and invitations; postcards and other graphic material; notes, poem and announcements, all collected by Mary Forsey Harris. Also included are: a group photograph[ca. 1953] of Eleanor Harris Carr(BA 1913), Mary Forsey Harris(Mount Allison Ladies' College graduate in Household Sciences 1917), Chester Harris(BA 1910), Eleanor Forsey Harris, and Eleanor Mary Carr [Mo?](daughter of E.H. Fonds consists of a number of programmes and publications that were likely accumulated or acquired by Vera M. Campbell. The contents of the fonds document her life and, particularly in relation to her time spent studying music at Mount Allison University and the various concerts and productions that she was involved in during her time at the university.

Fonds consists of family records, most of which relate to the female members: Mary Louisa Westbrook series consists mainly of personal records and records related to student career. Files contain diary, 1895-1896, which includes references to events leading up to wedding day; Langford Literary Society minutes, 1891-1893; correspondence, 1910-1933; student notebook on interior decorating, 1928; scrapbooks containing material on colour and design; term reports 1912, 1923; membership cards, invitations, ration books.

Irene Secord Smith series consists mainly of records related to student career and church work. Files contain student notebooks and tests in psychology, English, mathematics, biology, religious knowledge, education, 1918-1930; art exercises in watercolour, costume design; scrapbooks, 1916-1926 containing memorabilia, oratory selections, programs, clippings, C.G.I.T. memorabilia, photographs; student reports; teaching certificates; correspondence which includes material from classmate and missionary Jean Stewart from Chungking, China, 1948-1951; Sackville United Church Sunday School and Young Men's Bible School records, 1904-1955; photographs, publications; artifacts which include Mount Allison pennant, dish, academic gown and mortarboard.

Fonds consists of records generated by Archibald in his activities as scholar, researcher, collector, historian of Mount Allison and by personal relationships with friends, family and fellow Allisonians. A large portion of the fonds relates to the Mount Allison Ladies' College.

Files contain: correspondence with classmates, Class of 1894, of which he was life president, and with academic colleagues; and records related to centenary of the Ladies' College. Scrapbooks contain correspondence, clippings, notices, posters, programs, memorabilia which document activities, students, faculty, buildings at Mount Allison, 1857-1935. Correspondence, guides, and scrapbook document the building of the MMAML collection.

Mary Mellish files contain letters to Mrs. Archibald from colleagues, testimonials, letters of recommendation, letters to her son and brother; speeches and poetry written by her, letters of sympathy to her son following her death.

Photographs consist of images of family members, friends, Mount Allison buildings.

Publications are mainly authored by R.C. Archibald, off-prints and monographs; bibliography available.
