Grand Manan Light and Power Company

This collection consists of technical books, papers, and manuscripts documenting the history of the electrification of Grand Manan. The ledger documents the installation of wires to individual locations and then maintenance at that location. The ledger used was a telegraph ledger but the entries are all for 'Electrical Works'. The ledger was used from Oct. 1929 to 31 Jan. 1930. Also included is an NB Power Museum Kit, acquired in 1990, which contains a history of the electrification of the Province of New Brunswick. There is also an NB Power calendar for 1994.

Grand Manan Ferry Collection

This collection contains 18 original enlarged photos of many ferries that serviced Grand Manan Island, New Brunswick from 1930 - 2010, some are mounted in professional scrapbooks. There are 3 cm of original newspaper articles in chronological order of stories about the ferry service. Two compact disks contain memories of the final voyages of The M.V. Grand Manan in service from 1965 to 2010. One compact disk was used on the official final voyage of the ferry as a part of the program and has a video of many ferry photos with the crew singing the song The Grand Manan playing in the background. The other compact disk has 200 images of the life on The Grand Manan with the crew featured doing their daily routines. Of the 200 images 45 were printed off for reference. As an index, there are 6 photo pages with thumbnail size photos of all 200 images.

New ferries arrived in 1965 and 1990 and 2010.

Charlotte County Veterans

This collection contains textual material related to veterans of World War I and World War II from Charlotte County as well as news related to veterans and Remembrance Day events. Most of the items in this collection are newspaper articles, which include news stories, editorials, reprints, and obituaries related to Charlotte County veterans or Remembrance Day events. Also included are promotional documents and pamphlets from the Royal Canadian Legion, Veteran’s Affairs Canada, and the War Amps. Lastly, a piece of correspondence between the Charlotte County Archives and Veteran’s Affairs Canada is also included.

This collection contains the record books kept in operating the businesses and correspondence related to the business of smoking herring and marine repairs. There is a sectional Aeronautical chart of Boston (V-10), n.d.; blueprints of the barge "Minca" built for the Ministry of War, 1944; a Lee Wilcox poem; newspaper clipping about the replica of the schooner "Bluenose"; work orders for the annual refit of the patrol boat "Gull Light," 1970.

Church of St. Andrew Catholic Women's League Minutes and Reports

This collection contains books and loose documents related to the St. Andrews branch of the Catholic Women’s League of Canada. These items contain financial information on the day to day activities of this group, as well as meeting minutes and annual reports, all of which provide a detailed look at the activities this branch organization has undertaken over the years. This series contains letters from E. Jacqueline Davis to her mother and “Vidy” concerning her experiences working as a nurse on a US Army camp on the island of Tinian in the Pacific Ocean near Japan. In these letters Jacqueline discusses her voyage across the Pacific to Tinian, developments during the final days of the war with Japan, what camp life is like, encounter the Japanese civilians and POW*, and events happening at home. Other textual documents in this series include a notice of a change of address for Jacqueline, programmes for church services on Tinian, a document detailing how to mail Christmas packages to soldiers overseas, a map of the Pacific islands, and a document outlining regulations for troop transport. There are also a few newspaper articles, which include several issues of “This Small World”, a newspaper published at the military camp Tinian which has articles on developments of war with Japan and in Europe as well as sports and other items of interest. There are a few other newspapers for enlisted personnel.
