This fonds consists of the personal papers of the Spinney family, as well deeds and court documents, and flyers, programs, newspapers, scrapbooks, and other gathered by the family (primarily Llewellyn Spinney) relating to local and world events connected to St George and Charlotte County as a whole. The documents particularly relate to the First and Second World Wars, the Eastern Pulp Wood Co., Ford automobiles, businesses of St George, the Utopia Centre, Black's Harbour high school, James Mollison and the American Flyers, church events, the Royal Family, and rum running.

Ledgers contain Roll Book of No 2 Fire Company from 2 May 1898 to 25 December 1939 ; letters and daily notes from10 October 1887 to 16 August 1900. Hand written history covers period 1853 - 1988; including names of firepersons, vehicles, and general notes. Cancelled cheques, cheque stubs and bank statements for 1973.

Students of Charlotte County Grammar School (St. Andrews)

The fonds consists of issues of Grammar School Times and Grammar School Review. There are 13 handwritten and illustrated issues of Grammar School Times, covering the period 25 September 1895 to 16 December 1895. They include community news, school news, and local advertisements, as well as comments on students' conduct (negative) and disciplinary actions.

The fonds also includes 8 issues of Grammar School Review, covering the period October 1935 to December 1935. They include current events, school news, and local advertisements. A column entitled "Old Graduates" provides information on activities and careers of former students of the Grammar School. Of particular interest, is the information, in several of these columns, on the careers of women graduates, who may be termed "new women" -- women who went on to study at universities / colleges and who had successful careers outside the home.

The contents include: correspondence ; invoices in alphabetical order, with catalogues and advertising and ledgers from suppliers ; day books and journals in chronological order ; Telegrams in alphabetical order by local resident name 1916-1929 ; Registered letter ledger for Seal Cove Post Office 1911-1914 ; Journal for recording telephone calls 1953-1954 ; and original fish can labels two different types. The Newton Store fonds

This fonds consists of Clarence Newton's cash book, 1897-1898, listing all assets of the company and their location and value. Also included are the Newton Bros. Ltd. account books, 1950-1954 listing account details and payouts for expenses and salaries incurred in operating a store. The purchase journal lists the names of suppliers, the cost of stock and shipping, and expenses related to stock.
