This fonds consists of personal correspondence, 1823-1957, business papers, genealogical records, diaries, clippings, school material, hymns, and ephemera. There are clippings of articles by James W. Robertson from Queenstown, New Zealand newspapers, ca. 1866.

The school material, ca. 1815-ca. 1830, includes the work of 3 generations of the Robertson family, teacher's account with pupils and reminiscences. There are also handwritten hymns and a pre-1967 circular of the Free Church of Nova Scotia.

George J. Dibblee

The Dibblee fonds deals extensively with litigation related to the lumbering industry, providing information on relationships among lumberers, suppliers, and sheriffs. Included are documents for about 2450 civil cases. There is relatively little non-litigated work (about 120 matters, mostly deeds for land), and very little criminal material.

In addition to professional and family correspondence, the fonds includes voluminous documentation arising out of construction of Dibblee's stone house in Fredericton in late 1820s. Also included are records of Dibblee's role as an executor in defending the estate of Receiver General George Pidgeon Bliss against claims of province. There are documents relating to local government in Westmorland County assembled by Edward B. Chandler and papers of Hampton (Kings County) lawyer George Otty mainly about debt collection. There is also some material concerning only law partner, George Frederick Street Berton (1808-1840), editor of "Berton's Reports of Supreme Court of New Brunswick."

John B.M. Baxter

This fonds consists primarily of Baxter's records of the Royal Commission to inquire into statements made by "The Standard" concerning the Provincial Hospital at Fairville, New Brunswick. It includes issues of the paper, drafts of the report and testimony, extracts from the press and correspondence. There is also a number of documents collected by Baxter including letters from famous people and original miltiary records of Saint John, 1808-1926.

Pickett family

This fonds includes the correspondence of Pickett family, 1834-1907, most of the early correspondence being letters of David Wetmore and his wife to his parents. Many of the later letters are addressed to David Wetmore's children, especially Lucy and Margaret. There is an acount book with charges for tuition at Kings Collegiate School, 1858-1861, and accounts of the church wardens, 1874-1883.

Other family records include deeds, 1837-1889; sermons and addresses of David Wetmore Pickett, 1876-1906; Horatio Pickett estate papers, 1873-1881; and correspondence and other material regarding the Welling family, 1809-1955. There is also genealogical information on the Pickett, Prescott, Boyle, Collins, Wheddon family.

This fonds consists of contemporary copies of letters to Captain R. Gibbon and Sgt. Peter Crook of the British garrison from the citizens of Eastport, Maine in 1818 and their replies. The correspondence discusses the return of Moose Island to the United States. It gives details of the handing-over ceremony and expresses the high esteem of the citizens for the conduct of Capt. Gibbon and his men toward them.
