Fonds consists family and business correspondence, a deed, appointments to postmaster's position, business accounts, and essays. The business correspondence deals with shippings lumber aboard the Peake Bros. schooner, 1891-1892. Included are essays written by Howard Chapman on historical topics such as Halifax history, the Cape Tormentine breakwater and lumbering.

This fonds consists of the appointments, business records, accounts and military records of Charles R. Hatheway. There is also material about a dispute over land with Michael Noonan, 1851-1866; a record of surveys in Charlotte County, 1827-1855, and of lots surveyed in Saint David's for Dr. Frye and Capt. Mowatt, 1834; and a court book of smuggling cases, 1830-1832.

There are monthly payrolls of Salisbury and Harvey Railway, 1898-1901; accounts of the Albert Railway, 1877-1882; cancelled cheques and promissory notes of the N.B. Railway Co., 1884-1887; and records of the Northern and Western Railway Co., Railway Extension Co., and Cumberland Railway and Coal Co. The collection includes timetables, correspondence, lists of locomotives, notes, notices, newsletters and copies of newspaper articles.

They include the minutes of the Quarter Sessions of the City and County, 1868, 1872: minutes of the committees; 1874, 1886, 1893; minutes of County Council; 1877-1879; and the Sessions order book; 1860-1869, 1875, 1876.

There are records of tax assessments and collections for the parishes of Musquash,1877-1909; Portland including Indiantown, 1863-1869; St. Martins, 1864-1910; Simonds, 1871-1910 and Lancaster, 1856-1910. There is also a record book of the election of councillors with list of voters, 1877.

This fonds contains records from the City Clerk's Office and other records of city government. The material has not been arranged in series but a detailed file listing is available.

This collection includes letters written by Clara Fritz to her mother in Saint John in 1903 and 1904 while en route to southeast Asia with information about life on board, descriptions and impressions of places she saw such as Haiphong and Da Nang in Vietnam and Hong Kong, China.

There is also a typewritten biography by Dr. Madeleine Fritz detailing her sister's education and work and including a few details about the voyage to Asia. Also included are 2 pages from the ship's log, a school certificate, a map marked with the route of Clara's trip, and a photocopied press clipping about it.
