Rotary Club of Fredericton fonds

This fonds contains the administrative and financial records of the Fredericton Rotary Club, dating from the first decade of its existence. It consists of general correspondence, correspondence pertaining to the annual Rotary auction, notices of meeting, minutes of meeting, financial reports, a copy of the constitution, notes on the history of the club and its members, programmes, pamphlets, press clippings, and copies of speeches.

Also included are copies of Rotary magazines and Rotary song books as well as information pertaining to conventions, conferences, Rotary scholarships, Christmas parties for visiting students, and to the camp for physically disabled children.

There are also several commemorative plaques, an audio cassette tape recording information on the Adventures in Citizenship programme (1978), and photographs of the club's first meeting place, of the Rotary camp, and of activities associated with the annual Rotary auction (P496).

This fonds consists of the administrative records of the Canterbury Women's Institute and includes correspondence; minutes of meetings; hospital bed rental records; treasurer's book and other financial records; an annual report for 1964-1965; Branch of Honour scrapbook; notes relating to the founding of the Canterbury branch; and lists of officers, convenors, and programmes.

Donald Logan collection

This collection consists of records relating to the donor's father Herbert L. Logan, a militia officer and veteran of World War I and World War II, along with records the donor collected pertaining to his interests, notably World War I, World War II, the Moncton Hawks hockey team, the Loyal True Blue Association, John M. Brown's general store at Quaco, N.B., businesses of Albert, Westmorland, and Saint John counties, and the steamboats "St. George" and "John Ward".

Records pertaining to Herbert L. Logan and the First and Second World Wars include circulars, telegrams, and photographs relating to the New Brunswick Rangers; messages and orders from commanding officers relating to the 7th Field Hygiene Section of the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps; a postcard of the 7th Field Hygiene Section; identification cards, permits, tickets, shoulder patches, and military buttons; propaganda leaflets dropped by the R.C.A.F. over Germany in German (1930s); handbooks and booklets; the constitution of the Canadian Legion of the British Empire Service League [191-] and other material pertaining to the Canadian Legion; and newspaper clippings.

Records pertaining to the Moncton Hawks include photographs and postcards; a souvenir history of the Moncton Hawks, Allan Cup Champions, 1932-1934; a printed copy of "The Hawk Song" (1933); hockey programme (1948); a hockey schedule (1940s); and a small commemorative booklet containing photographs of the Moncton Hawks Maritime Champions, 1932-1933.

The collection also includes the constitution and 3 membership booklets relating to the Loyal True Blue Association that functioned at Youngs Cove, Queens County, in the 1920s and 1930s; a general store account book for John M. Brown's general store at Quaco, N.B., (1877-1880); accounts relating to the steamboat St. George and the steamer John Ward (1830s); the Intercolonial Railway Time Table of Trains conveying Their Royal Highnesses, the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and York from Saint John to Halifax, 1901; an English Speaking Citizens Committee of Moncton "reply to French propaganda," issued in 1934 to counter two circulars reportedly broadcast in Moncton and area by the Assomption Society of Moncton; and commercial advertising leaflets, letterheads, bills of sale and accounts pertaining to businesses in Albert, Westmorland, and Saint John counties. Of particular interest is an announcement issued by T. H. Estabrooks, of Saint John, of the launch of the "Estabrooks' Red Rose Coffee", [1901?].

This fonds includes correspondence (mostly of the New Brunswick Society for the Encouragement of Agriculture, Home Manufactures and Commerce), 1850-1854, 1858, 1868, 1871, 1882-1900, and later with the Director of Agricultural Societies, 1961, 1969-1971; Schedules of Awards (and prize lists for fairs and exhibitions), lists of subscribers, Annual Returns, receipts for purchases and work performed for the individual Societies; 1874-1875 etc. and for the provincial Society (including Matthew Stead's receipts for work on the Exhibition buildings (1850s), (Printed) Minutes of the New Brunswick Society for the Encouragement of Agriculture, Home Manufactures and Commerce, 1850-1854 and handbills from various agricultural societies.

For the most part, this fonds consists of individual documents, but does include minute books for the following Agricultural Societies: Blackville and Derby, 1889-1944; Black River, 1953-1992; Gloucester County, 1848-1852; Loggieville, 1936-1945; Northumberland County, 1960-1970; Salmon Beach, 1919-1982; St. Hilaire, 1875-1976; and York County, 1841-1863.

Lastly, it includes one ledger of the New Brunswick Agricultural Societies United, 1955-1973, and the letters patent incorporating "The Agricultural Society of District Number Ninety" (Chipman parish, Queen's County, and Northfield parish, Sunbury County) in 1909.

This fonds consists of a single item, an account book for Lewis Fisher's general store. The names of customers, items purchased, amounts charged, and payments made are recorded. There is also an alphabetical index of customers.

St. Thomas University fonds

The fonds consists mainly of financial and administrative records for St. Thomas University and its predecessor institution, St. Thomas College. Financial records, including account books, ledgers, and bank books, 1910-1957. Administrative records include correspondence about the payment of tuition fees for students under programs of the Indian Affairs Branch, the Department of National Defence and the Department of Veterans' Affairs, 1949-1959, along with a listing of boarders and day scholars of St. Thomas College, 1910-1911, a copy of the constitution of the Students' Union of St. Thomas University, 1968-1969, a report entitled, "Residence Regulations - Men, St. Thomas University, Fredericton [1960s?], and a few other records.

Also included are printed brochures; souvenir programmes; biographical sketches of 11 priests (Rogers, Costello, Ploude, Reath, Pageau, Sheridan, Roach (2), Finnigan, Meader, and Pickett); a very few newspaper articles [1960s?]; and 4 photographs of building construction on the Fredericton campus.

There are also St. Thomas College / St. Thomas University calendars, dating from the 1911-1912 academic year to the 1985-1986 academic year, either in hard copy, on microfilm, or in both forms. Several years are missing in this run, more specifically, 1919-1920; 1920-1921; 1921-1922; 1924-1925; 1926-1927; 1928-1929; 1931-1932; and 1936-1937.

The fonds contains a few records relating to the university's student newspaper, "The Aquinian". There are 6 issues (originals) of "The Aquinian" (October, November, and December, 1964; February 1965; 13 February 1967; and 25 March 1968); several draft articles; an issue of "Nike", the newspaper's literary supplement (1965); and a few other records.

Student files, dating from 1914-1983, on microfilms F11808-F11812 are restricted. St. Thomas University faculty meeting minutes, 1967-1982, and St. Thomas University Senate minutes, 1968-3 June 1982, are available only on microfilm F11813.

Millicent Anderson

This fonds documents Millicent Anderson's curling activities, as well as those of her husband, curlers in the Newcastle / Chatham area (now Miramichi) and elsewhere in the province. It includes curling rule books; newspaper clippings; 6 issues of The Hog Score, the newsletter of the Fredericton Curling Club (1948); and a programme for the 10th annual induction ceremony of the New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame (1979). The bulk of the fonds is comprised of pamphlets, leaflets and booklets pertaining to bonspiels held at various curling rinks around the province. Of particular interest is the souvenier program for the Labatt Brier, held at Moncton in 1985; a booklet containing information on the activities of Canadian and Scottish curling teams at home and abroad (1950); and a compilation of New Brunswick curling records that outline the development and growth of the sport throughout the province between 1854 and 1978.

This fonds consists of the administrative records of the Association of Professional Engineers of the Province of New Brunswick. It includes presidents' files and reports as well as minutes of the executive committee, of the council, of the board of examiners, and of annual meetings.

The fonds also contains general correspondence, correspondence pertaining to membership, briefs, reports, submissions to government bodies, copies of speeches, membership lists, and financial records (statements, reports, balance sheets).

There are also records pertaining to the Membership Services Task Force and to the Engineering Professionals Act, as well as to various committees, including the Committee on Admission Standards, the Architects and Engineers Practice Committee, the Consulting Practice Committee, the Engineering Education Committee, the Collective Bargaining Committee, the Ad Hoc Finance Committee on Act Enforcement Fund, and the Planning Committee.

The microfilm reel contains a copy of the Engineering Profession Act and original proposed by-laws, a cash book (1920-1943), and applications for membership.
