The fonds consists of microfilmed business records, including an accounts ledger (1830-1838) for the tannery business operated by Asa and Oliver Willard (A. & O. Willard) at Newcastle and an order book (1861-1862) for the general mercantile establishment of Patten & Willard. Goods ordered included foodstuff, clothing, footwear, and household goods.
There is also a 14-page, pocket-sized account book (textual), 1836-1844, for the purchase of general merchandise. The names of customers, dates of transactions, items purchased, sums charged, and payments made are noted.
