This fonds contains the records created by the organizations and clergy of the Diocese of Fredericton - including the Bishops, the Diocesan Synod and its predecessor, the Diocesan Church Society, the Deaneries, the Cathedral and the Parishes.

However, it is the latter, the Parishes, which have generated the bulk of the records contained herein. Records produced by the Parishes include the Parish Registers (of Baptisms, Marriages, Burials and Confirmations), records of the Corporation (Vestry), statistical Registers of Services (now called Vestry Books), correspondence and financial records, land deeds and consecration and other legal records, parish histories, photographs etc. Any Parish's records may include some or all of the above and more.

Saint John almshouse fonds

The collection consists of administrative records of the Saint John almshouse, almost all from after 1920. It includes minutes, correspondence, financial records, employment records and records related to the Home as a trustee of the pensioners in its care.

The earlier records include alphabetical admittance registers, 1853-1961; chronologically arranged admittance registers, with remarks about the patient's character and condition, and date and reason for leaving, if any, 1885-1925; register of applications for assistance made to the Almshouse Office at Water Street which gives case history and record of action taken,1901-1921; and alphabetical files on persons admitted to the home between 1900 and 1963, which may include biographical sketches, dates of admittance, major physical disabilities, age, religion, death dates, and sometimes a photograph. There is also material relating to illegitimate children, their mothers and adoption.

The scrapbook contains newspaper clippings from local papers about local events. Many record Scribner family events, weddings, awards and births. Others include stories about ferries on the St. John River, murder, and other historical events in the Kingston, Kings County area.

Rotary Club of Fredericton fonds

This fonds contains the administrative and financial records of the Fredericton Rotary Club, dating from the first decade of its existence. It consists of general correspondence, correspondence pertaining to the annual Rotary auction, notices of meeting, minutes of meeting, financial reports, a copy of the constitution, notes on the history of the club and its members, programmes, pamphlets, press clippings, and copies of speeches.

Also included are copies of Rotary magazines and Rotary song books as well as information pertaining to conventions, conferences, Rotary scholarships, Christmas parties for visiting students, and to the camp for physically disabled children.

There are also several commemorative plaques, an audio cassette tape recording information on the Adventures in Citizenship programme (1978), and photographs of the club's first meeting place, of the Rotary camp, and of activities associated with the annual Rotary auction (P496).

T.H. Swift and Sons fonds

This fonds consists largely of the financial records of T. H. Swift and Sons businesses. The records of the store include bound ledgers and account books, 1934-1965, and other loose financial records and correspondence, 1926-1973. There are invoices, orders and shipping records as well as inventory records, some customers accounts and banking records. There are also payroll, income tax and insurance records.

The records of Lockowan Coal Company include financial and banking records and some time sheets for workers handling explosives, 1932-1947.

Personal and business records of Rene Swift, 1925-196, include financial and investment records, souvenirs and records of his work with local service clubs and charities. There are also some records of the Peerless Construction Company, 1937-1940. Plans of the general store and the Minto Coal Company office, 1942, are available in the map section.

This fonds contains the administrative records of the Red Bank Presbyterian Church, the Salmon Creek Presbyterian Church, the Chipman Presbyterian Church, and the Chipman United Church as well as records relating to church societies, organizations, and committees.

It consists of minutes of Sessions, minutes of congregational and Board of Trustee meetings, and church registers (communion rolls, baptisms, marriages, burials). Also included are minutes of the Women's Missionary Society, the United Church Women, and of the Red Bank Cemetery Committee as well as a pew rental book for the Salmon Creek church.

This fonds consists of both original paper records and microfilm copies. It documents the management of the land owned by the parish and other business affairs of All Saints Church, St. Andrews. The church was granted a large glebe, including land in the town, forest and on the waterfront. The documents consist of bonds, leases, assignments, licences of occupation, memos of sale, notes and mortgages. There is also some business correspondence dating from the first half of the twentieth century. A microfilm of the vital statistics records of the parish (baptisms, marriages and burials), dating from 1787-1961, is also included.

This fonds contains the administrative records of Fredericton Council #746, United Commercial Travelers of America. It consists of correspondence, minutes of meetings, brochures, and pamphlets. Also included are a brief history of the council entitled "The First Twenty-five Years", prepared by Frank S. Corbin in 1974, and two audio cassettes used in preparation of the history. The audio cassettes have been transferred to the Audio Visual Section.

Queens Own Lodge No. 96, British Order of Good Templars fonds

The fonds contains the minute book of Queens Own Lodge No. 96 Order of Good Templars from 1866 to 1881 and the minute book of Queens Own Lodge No. 184 from 1886 to 1889. Minutes record installation and expulsion of members, and sometimes note the talks and social activities following the meeting.

There is a financial secretary's ledger (1930-1933) which records the payment of dues by individual members. There are some loose financial records, an undated charter of the lodge, and the script of a short temperance play or skit. There are also 2 rule books, the "Blue book for the use of subordinate divisions of the order of the Sons of Temperance", 1857 and "Ritual for the subordinate lodges of the Independent Order of Good Templars", 1894.

Second Cambridge Baptist Church fonds

This fonds consists of the records of the Second Cambridge Branch of Women's Baptist Missionary Aid Society,1870-1914, and of the Second Cambridge Baptist Sabbath School (Narrows), 1866-1887. The Women's Baptist Missionary Aid Society records include photocopies of the constitution and by-laws, minutes of meetings (1870-1892), and of a membership listing, dating from 1870-1914, that includes entries for deaths to 1962.

The manuscript records of the Sabbath School include a record book containing minutes of meetings, names of scholars, names of subscribers, and notes regarding concerts and other activities; attendance sheets (1881, 1887); a concert programme; and 2 published copies of "Visitor Lesson Quarterly" for October 1881.
