James McLeod

This fonds consists of the business records and correspondence of James McLeod in his role as master of 11 vessels. There are 11 series, one for each vessel. There is also a handwritten notebook, "Specifications of an Iron Sailing Vessel," giving 48 pages of detailed specifications for building and filling up an iron barque. The volume is undated but appears to come from between 1830 and 1860.

Peruvian Congress (ship)

The fonds consists of documents prepared after the abandonment of the Peruvian Congress in1882. There is a protest or formal written declaration by the crew reporting the circumstances of the incident and a copy of the transactions subsequent to registry for evidence. The declaration was received and signed by William Henry D'Arcy Porter, notary public at Rangoon, Burma (now Myanmar). The protest provides detailed information on the events of the voyage with some names of crew, their titles, and the type of cargo on board. These documents are probably the copies sent back to New Brunswick for the information of the ship's owners.

Knight family

Fonds consists of family correspondence, financial records, deeds and memorabilia. Of particular note are two account books begun in Pennsylvania before the American Revolution and continued in Canada. There is a daybook, 1774-1821, including the names of people in the Quaker community, their purchases (e.g. flour, pork) and entries for blacksmith work done for them. Another account book, 1774-1825, includes accounts of individuals in the community for repairs, purchases and their pay for work. There are deeds for family properties, 1825-1867, and legal records, 1842-1909, including estate papers pertaining to Joshua Knight's guardianship of Bessie Knight Hilliard's children.

The genealogical material, 1814- 1971, includes correspondence and charts relating to the Knight, Vernon, Prescott and other related families, also copies of wills of Isaac Knight and copy of patent and deeds of Elizabeth Shorter, an ancestor who was believed to have received them from William Penn. There are also family history notes by Bertha Carson and background material about the towns connected to the family history, 1940-1962, assembled by Marion Tuttle. Also included are family correspondence,1840-1850, a collection of post cards, press clippings and memorabilia.

George T. Baird

This fonds consists largely of the records kept during the time that Baird was a senator, including correspondence about patronage and other political matters. Subjects include Victoria Telephone company, railways, bridges, ferries, and roads, and land transactions. There is correspondence about Indian Reservation and lumbering, including contracts and crown timber licenses.

The fonds also includes material related to the John J. Kupkey estate and the Beveridge, Cameron estates. There are minutes of Liberal-Conservative Association, 1895, the Perth Sabbath School Register, 1877, and accounts of the Baird General Store at Perth, 1877, 1881, 1885 and for Victoria Co. Telephone Co., 1903.

This collection consists of research notes and material about the Anglican church in New Brunswick collected by Moorhead. There are notes on histories of Anglican churches in New Brunswick, including a copy of the vestry minutes of Trinity Church, Saint John, 1790-1825. There are also press clippings and printed ephemera about church history including the120th anniversary of St. George's Church, Saint John, 1941 and memorial pamphlets from Trinity Church, Saint John. Published booklets on the histories of the diocese of Fredericton and the parish of Fredericton are also included. There is also an extract from a diary, listing dates of events in the Anglican Church in New Brunswick and notes on records kept in cathedrals in the province.

Personal records include William Munson Jarvis' lecture and research notes on New Brunswick history and the development of the Church of England in New Brunswick; his addresses, lectures, and speeches on various religious themes including Sunday schools; correspondence pertaining to religious issues; and printed religious material primarily relating to the Church of England and its societies. They also include Jarvis genealogical material, correspondence relating to the New Brunswick Rifle Association, William Munson Jarvis' grammar school reports and attendance cards, and newspaper clippings.

This fonds consists of minute books, committee books, and ephemera. There are 6 minute books covering the period 1880-1953 which contain lists of members. The two committee books cover the periods December 1890-1908 and May 1909-1956. Both sets of record books include lists of the titles of books selected to be read and the names of readers.

There are also printed and typed programmes covering the years 1896-1959, including programmes of plays and a printed booklet "An Evening on Edward Fitzgerald" (a translator and poet) with a biography. One of the programmes is written on a piece of birchbark which has been embellished with gold ink.
