This report was prepared for Lieutenant-Governor Arthur Hamilton Gordon by Lieutenant-Colonel J.A. Inches on 24 May 1866. It discusses in detail the activities of the Fenians in the Calais, Maine, and St. Stephen, New Brunswick, on 23 and 24 May 1866.

This fonds consists of contemporary copies of letters to Captain R. Gibbon and Sgt. Peter Crook of the British garrison from the citizens of Eastport, Maine in 1818 and their replies. The correspondence discusses the return of Moose Island to the United States. It gives details of the handing-over ceremony and expresses the high esteem of the citizens for the conduct of Capt. Gibbon and his men toward them.

James Pringle

The fonds consists of South African War and World War I certificates and dispatches. The certificates include James Pringle's discharge from the South African War in 1900 and his service certificate from the First World War. There are mentions in two dispatches, issued by the War Office in London, for gallant and distinguished services in the field, dated 7 November 1917 and 7 April 1918.

The fonds consists of military commissions and muster rolls belonging to George Scovil. The military commissions are for George G.G. Scovil as ensign (1865) and captain (1866) of Company 8, Fourth Battalion, Kings County Militia. There are also two muster rolls. One belonged to Captain G.G. Scovil, of Company 8, Fourth Battalion, Kings County Militia (1866) and contains names, ages, marital status and active or sedentary status of the members of the company.

The other muster roll, for the same company, originally belonged to a Captain W.B. Scovil, Company 8, Fourth Battalion, King's County Militia and contains names, ages, marital status and active or sedentary status.

Valentine family

Fonds consists of family records and genealogical material. There is a marriage certificate for Daniel Valentine and Lucinda Sloan, Daniel Valentine's discharge certificate and 3 baptismal certificates for their children Mary Ann, William and Lucinda. A letter, dated February 1886, from the Royal Hospital in London, England discusses Daniel Valentine's pension. Daniel Valentine's account book, 1854-1871, includes details of his monthly salary, clothing allotment, and savings bank account.

The genealogical notes are poorly arranged and badly written and include the marriage notice of Frank Valentine of Bonny River, New Brunswick to Lilla Hanson Miles of East Lowell, Maine, United States of America in 1890. Other information pertains to Lucinda Sloan Valentine's family, and includes names of parents, and siblings as well as names of her maternal grandmother's family, including Catherine Lavery and Jane Jones.

There are monthly payrolls of Salisbury and Harvey Railway, 1898-1901; accounts of the Albert Railway, 1877-1882; cancelled cheques and promissory notes of the N.B. Railway Co., 1884-1887; and records of the Northern and Western Railway Co., Railway Extension Co., and Cumberland Railway and Coal Co. The collection includes timetables, correspondence, lists of locomotives, notes, notices, newsletters and copies of newspaper articles.

This fonds consists of James Quinton's records of his building and construction projects and other family records. It includes estimates, tenders and other construction documents for various banks, churches, houses, bridges, railways, the Court House, the Saint John Custom House, the Provincial Lunatic Asylum, the General Hospital, the Sailor's Home and Lighthouse, the Post Office, and the Opera Hall; 1848-1879 together with James Quinton's correspondence, wage records and business accounts.

There are also assessment notices, deeds, leases and other material of Quinton Family, 1785-1875. Family correspondence includes letters from John Boyd Quinton, San Francisco, to his brothers, John Quinton and James Quinton, 1849-1863, and correspondence belonging to John Quinton, Alfred Quinton, and William A. Quinton.
