This fonds contains Charles Moffitt's original diaries covering the period,1854-1902. The series, however, is incomplete. Volumes are missing for the years: 1879-1881, 1883-1884, 1888-1889, and 1891-1892. Photocopies of the diaries are also available and a transcription is being completed.

This fonds consists of a single ledger from the R. Chestnut Canoe Company for the time period 1904 - 1908. It records in considerable detail the business transactions of the fledgling company. It reflects not only the volume of their business and the variety of products they produced but also the far-flung market they served, stretching from Newfoundland to British Columbia and extending into the United States.

This fonds documents the activities of the York County (NB) Constituency Council of the CCF between 14 July 1944 and 13 September 1947. It includes a record book containing minutes of meetings, accounts of payments and expenditures, and pledges and donations for the Campaign Fund. There is also a file of miscellaneous CCF-related items that includes notices and agendas of meetings for the York County Constituency Council, financial statements, a letter from the Upper Hainesville CCF Club with an attached list of officers' and members' names, financial statements, and newspaper clippings. There is also a four-page leaflet, published by the federal Progressive Conservative Party, entitled "Let the record speak".

The fonds also includes several photographs and floppy disks which primarily contain drafts of novels, screenplays, essays, and personal correspondence.

David H. Walker

This fonds documents David H. Walker's 45-year literary career as author of 19 novels, over 100 short stories, and several works of non-fiction -- most notably, an autobiography, Lean, Wind, Lean. It also reflects his military career in The Black Watch (1931-47), including his internment in German prison camps during the Second World War. The fonds also includes material relating to Walker's family life, his personal relationships, his friendship with Lord Wavell, and his travels in Canada and abroad as well as several awards and honours.

It includes incoming and outgoing correspondence, notes, draft manuscripts, draft scripts, agreements with publishers and film makers, published short stories, reviews, royalty statements, and publicity material as well as copies of speeches, travel and family photographs, biographical material, mementos, and awards. Artifacts include: commission in The Black Watch, Governor-General's awards for fiction (1952 and 1953), and warrants making Walker a Member of the Order of the British Empire and a Member of the Order of Canada.

It also includes financial records, genealogical and biographical information, speeches, and notes. It includes photocopies of correspondence with literary figures, including Elizabeth Brewster, Irving Layton, Dorothy Livesay, and Miriam Waddington and between Lorne Pierce and Frederick Philip Grove.
