Secord family

Fonds consists of family records, most of which relate to the female members: Mary Louisa Westbrook series consists mainly of personal records and records related to student career. Files contain diary, 1895-1896, which includes references to events leading up to wedding day; Langford Literary Society minutes, 1891-1893; correspondence, 1910-1933; student notebook on interior decorating, 1928; scrapbooks containing material on colour and design; term reports 1912, 1923; membership cards, invitations, ration books.

Irene Secord Smith series consists mainly of records related to student career and church work. Files contain student notebooks and tests in psychology, English, mathematics, biology, religious knowledge, education, 1918-1930; art exercises in watercolour, costume design; scrapbooks, 1916-1926 containing memorabilia, oratory selections, programs, clippings, C.G.I.T. memorabilia, photographs; student reports; teaching certificates; correspondence which includes material from classmate and missionary Jean Stewart from Chungking, China, 1948-1951; Sackville United Church Sunday School and Young Men's Bible School records, 1904-1955; photographs, publications; artifacts which include Mount Allison pennant, dish, academic gown and mortarboard.

Fonds consists of correspondence; clippings regarding Suzanne Silvercruys and Amelia Earhart, 1932, 1973; and an inventory of the contents of the file prepared by Shirley Dobson-Gilroy, 1988. The correspondence includes letters written by Shirley Dobson-Gilroy of Manchester, Connecticut, regarding her search for information or image of the bust of Amelia Earhart for the book "Amelia Pilot in Pearls" and carbon copies of letters by Shirley Dobson-Gilroy to various people and their letters of reply, June 1978-August 1980.

Suzanne Silvercruys fonds

Fonds consists of personal, biographical and family documents, citations, certificates, invitations, programmes, correspondence, war and political activities, radio and publishing ventures, speeches and addresses, sculpture projects as well as photographs, negatives, positives and reproductions. These are accompanied by scrapbooks containing clippings concerning a tour by the U.S. for Belgium Relief Committee, exhibitions of her works, speaking engagements and an audio tape cassette "The Communist Conspiracy", 1966. The contents of the fonds document the varied interests and achievements of this woman noted for her support of Belgian war efforts during the First and Second World Wars. This was followed by a career as spokesperson for Republican and conservative values in the United States through seeking public office, lectures tours and assisting with the creation of new political parties. Her main focus was on the creation of artworks and teaching and sharing her talents via lecture tours. Many noted individuals were sculpted and immortalized at the hands of Suzanne Silvercruys.

Fonds consists the copy 1 of 10 signed and numbered copies of the publication, "Landmarks" and the working papers used in its preparation. "Landmarks" contains photographs and text assembled as a record of five businesses of Sackville, New Brunswick. The working files include an introduction and bibliography, five historical sketches, and 25 photographs.

This fonds conists three series: Series 1 - contains negatives produced by Thaddeus Holownia for the sesquicentennial publication "The History of Mount Allison University, 1839-1989", 1989. Not all of the images appearing in the publication are represented in this accession. Many were produced from photographs in the archives holdings, a few from other sources (possibly the Alumni Office), and others from his own photograph/negative collection. Where more then one negative for an image was produced, the one used for publication in not identified.

Series 2 - contains material related to exhibitions; publications with Thaddeus Holownia’s photography; and published or printed by the Anchorage Press.

Series 3 - contains a copy of "Dykelands, Photographs by Thaddeus Holownia & Poems by Douglas Lochhead", published by McGill-Queen’s University Press, 1989; and photographs, including plates for "Dykelands", a portrait of Thaddeus Holownia, and Douglas Lochhead and a panoramic view made up of three photo prints.

Item is a compiled genealogy prepared by Jean Weathered and typed by her mother, Jean Remier. The contents of the typescript are focused on the history of the Wethered / Weathered / Weatherhead family beginning in England, via the United States and finally New Brunswick and Nova Scotia and other places in Canada. The contents bring the history from the 17th century through to the late 20th century. The item is accompanied by a reproduction of a holographic family tree captioned “Wethered / Dickson / Etter” which provides links to information about the Dickson / Dixon and Etter families in the Tantramar region.

Also includes postcards of the Mount Allison Ladies' College Park, the Ladies' College Drill. Owens Art Museum, and the Mount Allison Academy Football Team, 2 of which are addressed to Miss Nita Palmer from Fannie.
