  • 1936-1982

This fonds consists of 2 typescripts of Alfred Bailey's writings about the Provincial Museum of New Brunswick. A lecture entitled "The John Clarence Webster Collection" is the text of an address presented to the Maritime Library Association, Saint John branch, 19 March 1936. "Saint John and the New Brunswick Museum in the Hungry Thirties 1935-1938", revised in 1982, contains details of Bailey's work as curator during the early years of the museum, his impressions of the Websters, the strained relations with the director, Dr. Macintosh, and the effects of the Depression on himself and the museum. It includes references to several well-known artists in Saint John at that time.
