Historique
George Leban Rogers was born December 16, 1867 in Westcock, NB, the first child of John Rogers and Emily Lawrence. He began as an apprentice at the George Campbell and Sons firm at the age of 16 in 1884, two weeks before his 17th birthday. As an apprentice carriage maker he was paid $25 per year for labor and board, and the factory in the 1880s typically manufactured up to 70 sleighs and 100 wagons and carriages yearly. The 1891 census lists him as George Rogers, male, age 23 years, occupation Carriage Maker. His career with George Campbell and Sons Ltd. lasted for over 60 years, until the factory closed its doors in 1949.
