Biographical history

Frank Broadstreet Carvell (1862-1924) was born at Bloomfield, New Brunswick, and practised law in Woodstock, Carleton County. He was a member of the New Brunswick Legislative Assembly from 1899 to 1900, and he sat as a Conservative member of Parliament for Carleton County from 1904 to 1919, when he resigned to become chairman of the Board of Railway Commissioners of Canada. On 13 October 1917 he was appointed minister of public works in Sir Robert Borden's cabinet. He held that office until August 1919.
