Biographical history

John Anthony McDonald est né à Shédiac, Nouveau-Brunswick, le 24 décembre 1875, fils d'Edward et Jane [Simpson] McDonald. Il a fait ses études au Grammar School de Shédiac. Il a épousé le 20 juin 1901, Alice Todd, fille de John Aylward Todd de Falmouth, Nouvelle Écosse. Le couple a eu 6 enfants (4 fils et 2 filles). John Anthony McDonald a été nommé au Sénat canadien le 17 février 1921 par Arthur Meighan, où il a siégé comme Indépendant. Il est décédé le 12 décembre 1948.

Ce fonds est constitué d'une liste qui comprend les noms des enfants issus du couple John McDonald et Alice Todd. Aussi des photos de la famille de John McDonald. Cette famille a habité pendant quelques années à Shédiac (N.-B.) dans la maison voisine de celle du sénateur Pascal Poirier.
