Biographical history

Émilien Allain est né à Sainte-Marie-de-Kent (Nouveau-Brunswick), le 4 février 1877, fils d'Anselme Allain et de Marguerite Allain; marié en 1904 avec Marie Cormier de Saint-Antoine (N.-B.). Pendant les années 1920 à 1950, Émilien Allain a été juge de paix et conseiller du comté de Kent. Il a pratiqué le métier de cultivateur pendant toute sa vie. Émilien Allain et Marie Cormier sont décédés en 1972 à Sainte-Marie-de-Kent.

Custodial history

Remis au CEA en deux versements par Donald Cormier en 1944, de la part de Victor Allain, fils d'Émilien Allain, soit la concession de terre Ct-78; et en 2000, par Laurie Allain, fils de Victor Allain, soit les abonnements.

Scope and content

Ce fonds est constitué d'une série : papiers personnels (1882-1916). Il comprend une concession de terre (1888) à Anselme Allain à Sainte-Marie-de-Kent (N.-B.), soit la « Bouctouche Indian Reserve » avec le sceau de la Reine Victoria. Il y aussi deux abonnements de journaux acadiens à savoir le « Moniteur Acadien » et « L'Acadien » pour Émilien Allain.
