Biographical history
Edmond Babineau est né à Kedgwick (Nouveau-Brunswick) en 1927, fils de Maxime Babineau et Hermance Chassé. Il fit ses études primaires à Kedgwick (N.-B.), puis au Collège Sacré-Coeur de Bathurst (1942-1952, B.A.) et à l'Université de Moncton (Éducation, 1967). Il a été enseignant au Madawaska (1953-1962), puis à Memramcook (1962-1982). Président fondateur de la Société historique de la Vallée de Memramcook, il a oeuvré dans divers organismes communautaires et s'est intéressé au patrimoine acadien.

Ce fonds consiste en une série : discours (1972). Il s'agit d'un discours prononcé par Edmond Babineau à une réunion de l'ADEF (Association des directeurs d'écoles francophones du Nouveau-Brunswick). Dans ce discours, M. Babineau fait un survol historique de l'Association et les luttes qu'ont menées les Acadiens pour l'amélioration de l'éducation en français au Nouveau-Brunswick. Ce fonds permettra aux chercheurs de faire les liens entre les préoccupations des enseignants francophones d'hier et d'aujourd'hui.
