Biographical history
Edgar Landry est né à Memramcook (Nouveau-Brunswick), le 10 mars 1905, fils d'Edmond Landry et de Marie Landry. Il a fait ses études classiques au Collège Saint-Joseph (B.A., 1928) et sa théologie à Montréal. Il a été ordonné en 1933, après quoi il a été professeur au Collège Saint-Joeph en 1938 à 1939, aumônier à Saint-Laurent (Québec) de 1939 à 1944, puis vicaire à Memramcook et ensuite aumônier au pénitencier fédéral de Dorchester (N.-B.) de 1953 à 1960. Il est décédé le 10 juillet 1960.
Custodial history
Ces documents ont été déposés en 1999 par l'entremise de Ronald LeBlanc qui les a obtenus des archives de la province acadienne des Pères de Sainte-Croix.
Scope and content
Ce fonds comprend quatre séries : correspondance [1942-1943], dossier généalogique [196-?], dessin [1942] et histoire [1942]. La correspondance échangée entre le père Edgard Landry, c.s.c. et le père Clément Cormier, c.s.c. a trait à une collecte de fonds pour venir en aide au violoniste acadien, Arthur LeBlanc, de même qu'à des controverses et des disputes entre les amis d'Arthur LeBlanc de Montréal et ceux de Moncton. Le fonds comprend aussi un dessin au crayon fait par Camille Landry.
